  • Rebirth and Technobox. Nothing else comes close IMHO.

  • rebirth for sure, a lil thin but compress it and stuff and its cash money.
Bassline is cool, not sonically like 303 as much.
Rhytm studio has a decent 303 and it comes with 808&909 so it feels more 303ish
  • Bassline is pretty cool. Not quite that 303 sound though as oceansinspace says.

I can't afford Cyclop - bought too many apps lately. LOL

I am a huge Bassline fan.

Rebirth is great, I just don't know why I don't use it more?
Cyclop-- love it.  I just don't use it like I thought I would of.  I use it for more grimy leads than bass.  Just me though

I am also fond of the TB3 found in Rhythm Studio.

  • Thoughts on Chicago in Gadget?

  • Gadget has medicore 303 attempts but really it eats cpu, and I think you want a 303 Style unit (looking and interface). Im less into gadget than most it seems.

I think there is also a 303 that is standalone that eventually made it into ryhtm studio. Could be wrong
  • I like the Chicago gadget, its can do some pretty full aggressive basses.

Figure has a nice 303 bass but it has a limited range.

You are correct; it is Digital Bass Line (DB-303)
However, I don't think it is AudioBus compatible.

  • Yeah there it is. I almost want to buy it strictly as an acid junkie to test every 303 clone! ahah
  • It may exist but we should list every acid 303 app. Then maybe the pros and cons. I forgot xoxo box or similar name, that one with 909,808 and 303 but not rhythm studio...?

Agreed about figure: too limited and the interface gives no 303ness also its a bit presetsish where everything sounds good ha.

Technobox2. Only it and Rebirth come close. unfortunately it hasn't been updated in a while. I wish it was on the Bus. ACP only.

  • Xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxox box was taken off the App Store I think? I did email the dev, if they would reinstate the app, with Audiobus. They said they would think about rereleasing it.

    That's right - I forgot about that one  :D

    You are not alone.

Totally removed from even discussing the quality of Gadget, I have some odd unconscious block that makes me feel restrained in some way.

You are correct with Rhythm Studio.  Great app that is!   Especially for IPhone and the cool controller it has.
  • Rythmn Studio Devs(Pulse Code Inc)also made just a 303 for the iPhone, it was the DB 303. It wasn't updated. Shame really.
  • I'd love to see ABL3 ported to iOS. They did an awesome job with that as a Rack Extension for Reason.
  • I think ABL(AudioRealism) made Technosound 2 app. About a year ago I asked the dev if he could update Technosound 2 to the latest Audiobus, & asked him if he could make ABL 2 to iPad. His reply was that he was a one man band working on Reason ABL3 at the moment. But he will if he gets time. Alas, not happening at the mo. Maybe if we all get together with email, & pressurise him, maybe?
  • Sorry I meant TechnoBox 2
  • Yea techno box was my first app, or close to it. On my old 3gs, and I geeked out hard. Like just plugging it into peeps stereos and ripping basslines haha. Good memory, I wonder if the app still holds up and its degree of acidity. At the time I was no as much an acid consisuour.

To my ear (FWIW) Rebirth and TB2 are the only iOS apps that come close. It's like you don't even have to know what you're doing and you'll get something like "the sound". Others require a lot more tweaking and never quite hit it.
