Midi Guitar Update by Jam Origin is out now!
Anyone uses Midi Guitar?

Comments
I assume you are referring to the updated Midi Guitar 2 and I just downloaded it.
WOW. I don't use the word incredible often but it applies here.
MIDI guitar has been out for quite some time actually. It is the 2.0 update that has just been released that is new.
Yes! You are right! I change the title.
Excellent tracking with version 2.0. A warning to people who previously used this without the IAPs it now disconnects the sound after a few minutes just like the desktop version so the IAPs are now essential. I do think it is amazing though and well worth the money.
It was already my favourite audio to MIDI app, can't wait to try the new version tonight.
+1, excellent news, very excited :-)
I evaluated the old one, and it was great but it lacked one very important thing--pitch bend. This one has it! Buying tonight. The price is still $20. Years ago you could pay $1500 or more for something that didn't track as well as this does. (I know, because I did.)
Still no AudioBus, but the developer says that AB and AU are the next thing they're looking into.
Pitchbend is in and it works! Well, it takes a little time to get used to, but it's definitely an improvement. I'm also blown away by how natural it sounds when slurring between notes.
Note it's actually $30 this time around (there's an added $10 charge for both new and old customers) to get all of the new features. I'm generally a cheapskate with apps that venture into this price range, but if this app isn't worth it, then I really don't know how any app could be... I shudder to think how many hours must have gone into this to get it to track this well. It's stunning and the debs deserve every penny that I just gave them.
So, very nice overall. I bought the 10€ pack, which has some very useful features.
Some problems I found so far:
While you could use the built in synth I'm pretty certain you would be happier using anything else. I've not ever missed background audio nor Audiobus when using this app. IMO
Same, I'm using it entirely as a MIDI controller.
Still, @Munibeast makes a good point for those who are thinking they might use the onboard synth (and effects).
It depends. I think sometimes it would be great to have as much as possible in one app in order to reduce the load somewhat, especially on the iPhone. And since they added all those patches and sounds etc. They might as well go all the way and make it possible to use that in AB and with MIDI foot controllers as well. I sent them an email with my suggestions and also told them about this discussion so who knows, maybe they'll chime in here.
The tracking in this is phenomenal - it was already very good, but now it doesn't seem to ever drop a note, and you can do hammer-ons, pull-offs, bends, all the articulations, even vibrato.
The synths are also pretty cool, definitely some interesting sounds on offer, can't wait for this to get Audiobus. In the meantime it's terrific fun using this with Animoog or Sampletank.
Also the polyphony seems to have been increased, it easily detects 4 notes now.
Massive improvements!
My thoughts exactly !
Sorry. New to this banana. It is worth the money for those of us who don't know how to play/plug in a guitar?
So they want 20 bucks for midi output.
That's pretty funny,
No.
Don't think so. It's really meant for plugging in guitars and turning the signal into MIDI. You can dl the app for free and try it out. If you find use for it you can do the IAPs, otherwise nothing lost.
I heard back from JamOrigin and they'll be happy to join the discussion
Here's what they answered:
Hi Christian,
Thank you for your support.
For background audio, please just turn on a midi output (eg. virtual midi output or any other).
We will work on AudioBus and the new AU v3 for the next update.
Yes, midi inputs missing as well. Please see jamorigin.com under the "missing" section
Great, will join in on Audio's forum,.
Best

Jam Origin
Why is that funny? Are they not entitled to charge for what is an outstanding app?
I gave it a try, and did a gadget session, only recording with my guitars ( better results with the electric one of course) and that was very fun and fluid
Well worth it for people like me that play the keyboard with one finger
So I just updated. Restored my purchase. What does the $10 adder get me?
I wonder too, but I had to pay them to keep playing after maybe 20/30 mins (trial session expired)
Proof that the price is right....
It's very fun. The $10 is a virtual amp SIM alongside your MIDI patch. I see why we would want Audiobus, AU, IAA and background audio.
Easy buy. Well worth it.
What, like i'm asking for a hand out?
Just seems funny, that's all. I find it amusing the way these in app purchases are set up.
Haven't used it in a long time, but I bought the IAP ages ago. Interested to see how it has improved, I always thought it worked quite well.
It's set up do that you get to try the app for free and see how well it works for you - I think that's pretty cool really.
There is a warning on iTunes that this isn't for older devices, so I don't know if there is not a way to turn down the sampling rate to permit use on slower devices. So no joy for me on an iPad2... at this rate I am building up a bunch of apps that I'll need to buy when I eventually upgrade! (iPad Pro 2...)
Hi everyone.
I was just asked by Munibeast to join the discussion here, and so please just let us know if you have any requests for the MIDI Guitar app. We'll be all ears.
Obviously AudioBus support is still missing, and thats something we will look into next.
Thanks for the support,
Jam Origin
