I instabought, because AUM makes AU's so immediately accessible.

However, I with Blamsoft would bundle all the effects. I've been holding off until now, but with AUM, I'd happily buy an effects bundle.

At the current price of $2.99 for each of the effects, I can't complain at all.

    Neat!

Now if it'd only run on my 6 Plus... :(

Exactly!! What's up with developers making cool apps that don't support iPhones?!? Don't they know that if they build it we will buy?!?

I have the same problem - 6s up to date phone, very old iPad. I believe KQ MiniSynth is the only AU instrument for iPhone, and there are maybe like 2 AU effects on iPhone (Buttercup Bitcrush). I would buy them if they were there - wish the Blamsoft stuff was universal.

I'll be in touch with Andrew and let him know there's a demand for his apps to become universal. I'm not sure what the outcome will be. But at least he'll be aware of it.

Considering how well the UI of the Blamsoft effects/synth 'scale' when used in AUM it should not be a huge problem :)

Just spotted this video on YouTube by Synthanatomy. Worth a watch.

VoiceRack:FX is AU, Universal, and is only $1. Seems fairly well done too. It's intent is voice fx, but there are 50 presets included. Some fairly cool. I've been adding it to all sorts of channels in AUM and it's a steal at $1.

  • @skiphunt - Good tip on VoiceRack:FX, I will check that out. I've been using guitar FX pedals with hardware synths and getting great results, so I see no reason why a voice-based FX couldn't also be used for other things.

Viking Synth looks great as an AU - definitely want it, but not until I have a device it can run on

  • So if I'm hearing this right, the only way to save a preset is to save a whole session in the Host? I hope that gets updated to allow local saving in the AU.

me neither, except that they're duplicates of duplicates of duplicates of what i own... to a degree...

i've heard the demos, i like them. they're certainly worth the price.

not needing them, a bundle would get me off my butt to buy them all in one fell swoop.

  • I don't like the look of the UI. All that page switching puts me off. The filters sound nice though.

  • After playing with Viking in AUM I see why they chose this design. The plugin uses vector graphics and is scalable, so they needed to make the UI simple and uncluttered.

  • I wasn't too interested in Viking until I saw that demo, some great sounds, very flexible oscilators, filters and modulations. The dual filter modes could be very creative. Now very tempted!

  • For me one of the 'stand out' features of Viking is that it's able to do audio-rate modulation of almost anything and the second one is AU making it possible to run multiple instances.

A new mono-synth favourite for iOS has been born.
If I could make a wish it would to to give Viking a few more LFOs and Evenlopes to 'complete' it :)

  • At last, something that will pretty much do the job of iMini (and more) without the hassle, wish I hadn't spent my £4 on a delay effect now :| , oh well payday on Monday :)

I prefer the simple layout in some respects, it is easier to relate it to a generic controller

Well, it all started when I bought an iPod touch 4th gen with Ampkit + and GarageBand
Then i found out about this thing called Audiobus, which was a mysterious piece of magic that would let me mess around with the audio routing, unfortunately this wouldn't run on my single core iPod, so I begged for an iPad to allow me to work with such glorious devilry.
Then, OMG Cubase on an iPad, and wait a minute an MS-20, wow I can dust of my old USB MS-20 controller, then along came Gadget and I thought that was it, with what I had I would be done, BUT No, No, No those evil developers kept feeding me more and more wicked spells that I could throw at my music, and they just won't stop...
These are evil, horrible people who should not be allowed out in public, or to scatter the web with their evil wares

You may have to avoid iOS, too tempting. Get an Android tablet and all will be well. You can play angry birds all day with no desire for music apps. Except for caustic....

So, Oh dear! Another AU only app. Can't use it with 99% of my other music apps in Audiobus or via IAA. Can't use it with Auria Pro. Can't use it. At least, not at the moment.

And, no skeuomorphism..... Please. For a Voyager?

IMO Should have looked like this in some fashion:

There's a place for minimal. I don't think this is it  My $0.02 only.

I got cured of the FGA - I ran out of space on the iPad, I am now in recycle mode for space for the new music apps, so like any 'good' addict I found a way round a problem to make sure I could continue to get my fix.

Note that Cubasis and MTS do not currently support Audio Unit presets. Presets work perfectly with GarageBand and AUM.

    On our list for Cubasis!
    Have a great weekend everybody!
