My Priorities are SSS (Sampling, Synthesis & Sequencing) and to date there is not a single iOS app that covers this area properly.

On paper, you've just described Modstep.

But I'm guessing it's a case of preference. Modstep's Sampler looks decent to me as a pad sampler (disclaimer: I've done my research into it but don't actually own it at this point). I can't really imagine using just one 'in house' synth (and I'm not even that synth heavy) because I'd want the character from different ones, but throw in Viking AU synth which is my bread and butter and from what I've heard of their own polyphonic one, I could definitely survive with just that. I'd be running Samplr and Sector alongside it though, for other kinds of sample fun!

To risk avoid making this thread completely off-topic I'll just quickly describe the situation.

There is no 'SSS' that fully covers all bases yet.(Both BeatMaker 3, FLM 3 etc look promising though).

For a 'Sampling & Synthesis' and 'Pad Sampler' there should be a 'pool' of samples that can be used in both and not limited to one or the other. Meaning user-redorded/edited samples can be used either as 'keyboard instruments' or 'pad-samples'. Naturally sampling/re-sampling of iOS-Apps(AU,IAA etc.) should be seamlessly supported.

For each pad/keyboard-sound the 'synthesis' could be based on traditional S&S meaning pitch, amp and filter envelopes with few filter-types and modulation sources/destinations and when applicable a 'sequence of samples/wave-tables' (This could be for example a transient sample + a looped sound or complete 'wavetable loops' ala Korg Wavestation).

All this can be quite easily achieved using Renoise or the 'Redux VST' but on iOS it's still a chore...

Ok, Back to iMPC Pro, I will re-install it once the sampling-department gets a much needed overhaul described in many of the iMPC related threads here...

  • I personally love Retronyms products. Why so much hate? Rhetorical. Don't care.

Sucks that they don't do Audiobus but I can say that IMPC app is incredible.

There content store is fresh and fairly priced.

Tabletop is a gem and WILL BE OPENING UP soon in various ways.

Company does nice tutorials and keeps in touch with customers.

PHASE is in top 5 of my favorite synths.

I appreciate all the tips in this thread.

  • Is Viking polyphonic?

  • Anyone get link to work properly?

  • Works for me...AUM and Navichord.
