    Get an iConnectAudio4+. Then you can forever pipe audio through on channels 5&6!

    yes, get Iconnect midi 2+ or 4+. it's the best deduction I made. Especially now with abelton with abelton link, your iPad basically becomes a part of your your workflow ,both midi and audio in and out. it's amazing.

    I think you mean iconnectaudio 4+
    The midi ones don't give you the same flexibility with audio routing.

    Really a big fan of Ableton/iOS. I'm pretty new in the Ableton/external hardware world, so this is what I've learned, sorry if some of it is very beginner (latency). Audio/MIDI apps include Studiomux and some others I'm blanking on. If you search the forum you'll probably find better discussions. I use an iConnect2+ and an Alesis Dock with an audio interface.

    • Get Touchable. It's the #1 Ableton control app for iOS. Works on iPhone and iPad. Super easy setup. Totally unlocks Ableton.
    • Latency is a thing. Especially if you're sending audio to an iConnect to effect it and then get it back in the DAW. Not a huge issue, but for something like Ableton, you'll want to figure out the latency of your setup. If you're not using an iConnect, if you use a MIDI controller to play notes, again... latency.
    • A hardware controller can be really helpful for recording clips. I got an APC20 for pretty cheap. It's a very functional mixer.
    • If you have more than one device, they don't all have to do MIDI and audio. Sometimes I'll use my phone just for MIDI and the iPad for audio. It's easiest if I have one audio/MIDI app per screen per session. A lot of times I'll also have Touchable/Lemur open and switch between the two, but more than one audio app starts getting CPU heavy and MIDI channels crossed/sync screwed up.

    I have the Iconnect 2+ model. from a few years ago. that's true, it doesn't have the inputs, and and some routing at the Iconnectaudio 4+. but it will send audio and midi between my iPad, and MacBook Pro.
    however, if I were to get one now, I would defiantly get the Iconnect audio 4+. actually I am thinking about doing that now. lol

    Imo, Studiomux is better than the iconnectMIDI audio pass through. You get more tracks, IAA sync and, I've found, lower latency. I don't know if it's still on sale.

    I bought Touchable last night and found it a bit glitchy here and there....opening devices in racks crashes the app (luckily, you can reboot it and it automatically reconnects to Live with no hiccups), the X/Y pad does not control macros or certain parameters as it's supposed to. Still, the equivalent hardware for what does work would cost £100s.

    I have studiomux. And indeed it's pretty good for audio. But it seems to have severe latency when sending midi to an iOS device and getting it back. But if you only want to send midi and audio one way to the pc studiomux is totally worth its asking price of 10$ or its sale price of 6 odd $.

    I've got Touchable and can't replicate the crashing behaviour, works ok for me so far, it might be a specific device it's having an issue with perhaps?. I'm not using it all the time though.

    I've bought a 24 inch touch screen display for my windows 10 laptop and it works great for session view, mixing and max for live device controls. I'm pretty sure they are developing more touch screen UI. I emailed them about it and they responded favourably but couldn't give details of when it might happen.

    There are some Lemur patches available for various max for live devices etc too

    @carnbot The crashing happens when trying to open individual devices within a drum rack. It seems to depend on what other devices are within. I need to test more but I have read of others experiencing it, over at the Touchable forum.

    Studiomux is excellent although one thing I have found on mac is the studiomux plugin crashes live. Setting up an aggregate device in OSX audio/midi settings takes away the need for the plugin if you have the same issue.

    Just tested it and it did it again, about 80% of the time.

    I don't use the plugin. No real need in Live on OSX. Aggregate device is more stable.

    yeah I know. I just registered for live lite (already owned ikaosillator) but still the upgrade price is $649..

    in gadget. when you go to export=>ableton. theres actually a button that says get ableton live 9 lite.
    you enter your email there and get a free code . thats pretty much it. its ableton 9 with only 8 tracks but with vst support. which if you own vsts is pretty good by itself. so 8 iaa/audiobus channel via studiomux or iconnectaudio4+.with the ability to add vst effects/mastering plugins etc.

    it was just a week long sale they had with 25% off on everything. its over now though. maybe at the end of the year they'll do one again. i know ableton always has a 25% or 30% off sale on everything every summer.

    yes, the last one before that was at the end of november (Black Friday weekend)

    that's when I upgraded from Intro to Standard, this time I upgraded to Suite

    Dang. Thanks though. I'll keep looking for sales. I'm more or less ok with lite but would like more than 4 audio tracks and would really like the limiter...

    Erm. Pretty sure live lite is 8 stereo tracks.

    8 tracks total but it will only allow me to use 4 inputs from my interface.
