I exported my first gadget song to auria yesterday, and it is amazing how much of a leap the mix took. High pass filters on any non bass channel, some other eq to cut some space, some pro-c with side chaining (with a silent kick track as the key) on different group buses, micro warmer on the drums, very cool.
I do notice that gadget exports pretty hot though. I brought each channel to -5 in gadget, but it really should go down more, I'm thinking -12 next time, along with a pass or two with kick and snare soloed so they get their own auria track.
Anyway, it was cool. I love gadget and auria.
@mrufino1 Damn. Secret's out. Just keep telling 'em that those Fabfilters aint worth the money...
If I could, I would! However, I actually wound up just using the channel strip eq so far on this mix. I love pro-q, but didn't need too much. The gadget synths sound great, I just needed to thin things out a little. I tend to go crazy with too many parts when I try to produce any electronic music. I will probably use the mute button a little bit too!
@mrufino1 Sounds like you should be adding into the Song of the Month Club.
I'll post it, why not? My attempt at trancey dance stuff.
Hi guys
I am toying with the idea of using the gadget as a live performance synth host in my band - and including the korg module for HQ piano and organs etc. Is it possible to use the gadget with a midi keyboard like the Akai Advance and swap between patches? I.e. synth, then piano, Rhodes etc depending on the track - and how usable would this be? Just trying to get away from using the laptop and an iPad air2 is so powerful it could almost replace the MacBook as the soft synth host
Any feedback would be amazing.
Yep. Very possible.
I've used with a midi keyboard.
You'd need to set up different gadgets for different tracks and then just tap the yellow button on the gadget homepage to switch between them. You can only play one gadget instrument at a time - but it sounds like that's all you want to do.
Yes.
Works great and maps nicely with Novation products.
Actually, I am looking at the answer here at studio.
KORG Triton Taktile keyboard
Look into it.
Make sure it is TAKTILE with TRITON engine.
Awesome piece. Sounds like a great fit for you. Especially due to built in sounds.
Cool set up and comes with ass load of VSTs.
Later
My non-Triton Taktile49 kicks butt. I really like working with it for just about everything.
MIDI learn those faders, knobs and kaoss pad to gadget and see what I mean.
Dammit!
Novation Remote SL
Late to the game here, but I made a bunch of Gadget Midi templates for the Novation remote SL. Not all the gadgets, but most. It uses the factory default CC's, so it will work on new projects, and the controls are labeled on the lcd screen.
Here yous go:

There's a two page Thor template in there as well. Don't get excited about the Thesys template, there is no default CC mapping, and I didn't finish it.
You're right, the X-Station is perfect for Gadget. I spent the weekend configuring 18 templates for different Gadgets. The X-Station has so many knob options that I can now can control EVERY single available knob in Gadget via the X-station. I even found a way to control all 32 Wave columns of Kamata.
This now appears to be the complete opposite. Did Korg change this recently? If I create new instances of a Gadget they respond to the custom CC#s I set. This is the same behaviour within the same or a different / new project.
I would be interested to hear if anybody has had their custom CC#s in Gadget wiped by an update?
You are right.
When I wrote that post I either got it wrong or it was different back then
.
Annoyingly I can find no way to set a gadgets CCs back to its defaults. This means it's tricky to use default templates in ModStep etc after I've messed with cc settings in Gadget for use with other app's fixed CCs (eg Thumbjam and TNR etc).
Hey @Matt_Fletcher_2000 Did you ever notice if they went back to default CC#s after update?
The idea of Modstep is intriguing and I'd love to grab it but there's just so many reports of it being buggy still.
How is your experience of using it? Does it add much to your Gadget sessions?
I don't think the update makes any difference - I think your custom cc changes still remain.
I think you'd need to uninstall and reinstall Gadget.
They ought to make a button in the iOS settings menu to reset factory CCs.
On ModStep - to be honest I've stopped using it and have moved to Yamaha TNRe (see the other thread that's been running) for this type of workflow. The reason is:
I've also toyed with a split screen setup of Infinite Looper and sidecar. However to be honest IL's piano roll needs a bit more refinement to make it usable for me. Plus sidecar needs to control midi CCs better. This could happen with updates though.
Hey @Matt_Fletcher_2000 Thanks. I wasn't aware of the TNRe thread but it sounds real interesting, will check it out.
Some great tips there... More fun ahead!
You're welcome. @Littlewoodg and I have totally gone down a (fun) rabbit hole with that one!
My Gadget is reacting weirdly to cc#s 96 & 97.
Anybody else? Ta
Hi there! :-) from what i keep, is still not possible to control the "transport bar" of KOrg Gadget (play-rec-stop-mute-solo..)either then using nanoKontrol/studio. Is it correct?
I have also another main need, is about "key range" settings.
I cant figure how to set it , i mean lets say i want "Dublin" bass, will play just from C1 to C2 of my keyboard....is a very simple feature, did i miss how to set it up?
thanks for help
