    nice find @Samu

    I often find myself thinking I'm 'wasting' tracks or effects by having a sound effect play 'live' from a Gadget synth when I could just sample it and stick it in Bilbao and add another effect from those built into Bilboa.

    I'm going to try out in practice how quick this resampling is. It would take up a lot of file space but instead of having to:

    • save as a new project, delete all scenes apart from one, export the track and then reopen your main project

    You could instead:

    • duplicate the scene you want to sample from
    • Move it to the very row top (scene 1) of your current project
    • Export the track

    And then bring into Bilboa / Abu which would only read the first 5/10 secs.

    The problem is though, each sample would be the length of your entire song. So very bad for file space if you did this a lot :(

    Yeah, in that case exporting to audio copy/Dropbox and AudioShare for trimming (and normalizing/renaming) works better. But then you might as well use audiobus I guess.

    The 'file-size' is one of the reasons I would love to see 'Export Current Scene' in addition to the regular 'Export'.
    This way we could simply select the scene(s) & track(s) we wish to 're-sample'.

    Other options would be to add 'Copy/Save as Audio' after pressing function in the arrange view in the same way it's possible to freeze a track.(Freeze already creates a *.wav file of the entire track with all scenes).

    I'd imagine that when Gadget gets proper file management and a sampler, trimming would be one of the features with snap-to beats/bars similar to what is present in Kronos.

    Now to take this a bit further, wouldn't it be nice if Gadget when exporting made 'rex/acidized' *.wav files?
    A new 'sampler gadget' would definitely benefit from this making tempo-adjustments easier :)

    Speaking of Freeze, I checked if that works the same as the export options, but they don't show up in the sample list. I've heard that Freeze tracks are deleted when 'un-freezed' so that's probably the reason.

    The 'frozen' files are unfortunately stored in a different place/folder and automatically deleted once a track is unfrozen. Also there is no way to dump sample-folders to Gadget to organize things. They have to be at the root-level of iTunes Shared Documents folder...
    (Bilbao and AbuDhabi have no folder management but just show a / in the filename).

    Performance wise I've not run into any issues on my Air 2 but for creative purposes re-sampling is a very handy feature so when a real 'sampler gadget' arrives it will be awesome!

    Yeah, creatively it's fun exporting basslines etc to Abu Dhabi and chopping/reversing/adding fx.

    Performance wise I'm surprised my 9.7pro gets hot just playing on a single gadget. Doesn't happen with most other synth apps. Same for my iPhone.

    I did a cool thing a while back. I made a dummy track the length of my Gadget song. I then froze it. I then went into iFunbox and replaced the dummy frozen track file with an audio file produced outside of Gadget, changing the name to make it identical. Thus sort of producing an 'audio track' inside Gadget.

    It worked, but of course if you rearrange your track in Gadget at all it all messes up. And when you render the master of your Gadget track it unfreezes all tracks so you lose the trick at this point too.

    I don't think it would work now anyway, since iOS has blocked access to other folders.

    Just updated gadget, 5 minutes ago, and my ableton project export problem has been cured. Nice one korg !
    Gadget jumping back towards top 3 spot again !!
