Yeah, but now that I'm in there and enjoying the ease of use? It's really built for the closed system. But even Figure has AB, right? But having to sign up for some "community" so I can save my fucking work??? That's not cool.

It's not cool at all. I'm not particularly impressed that the app has made a connection to an external server without my permission either.

This might be a refund app.

  • Great sounds. It'd be nice to have all the things people have mentioned (AB,Link, etc) . Even if nothing is added, it's definitely worth the $3 just to use it as sample food.

  • Anybody find a way to record notes in real time, or it's only a "programming" type of app??

  • BTW, this app I CRAAAAAZZZZYY good!!

I sure didn't see that under 'details' at the app store :/ I wonder why....... maybe they thought it might adversely affect sales or something.

Nope, and they don't show it when you open the app for the first time and it asks you to setup a username. So basically on opening this app, with no warnings on the App Store or when you open it, they've harvested information about your device without permission. I only found this out when I checked the 'Info' tab, accessible after you've done the above.

I'm requesting a refund, and lodging a complaint. This is not acceptable.

I'm with you on this. Too bad. It's a useful app.

    Me too.
But for someone who is not a coder: what exactly happened under the hood?

This app should be pulled from the App store immediately. This kind of practices are intolerable. Did you already file your complaint.

I knew something was fishy when I noticed the app is not listed in your settings list. Might delete.
Edit: ok it is listed. But I swear it wasn't before the recent update. Turned off cellular data

Yep, gave them the details. If anyone else requests a refund I'd recommend doing the same so they take it seriously.

  • How do you request a refund?

Figured it out. Did it on the computer rather than the iPad.
GO to purchases, and "report a problem." Report the problem.

I just checked. It does not show up anywhere in my settings. Deleted and will be requesting a refund.

Thanks for the info. I've never reported a problem before but did so regarding the cloud storage and privacy statements.

  • has anybody had any communication from the dev on these issues via Facebook , email, website, or otherwise?????????????????????????

It's been early for 7 hours!
Maybe they'll be mortified at their transgression and kill the privacy invasion and add Link and AB right away!

  • Complaint and request for refund documented with Apple.

    Harakiri or Harikrishna?

  • Hmmm... Not much of this new info really bothers me all that much... other than they didn't ask permission first, which could've been just a slip-up.

However, collecting "your mobile device's unique device ID"... I thought Apple forbid apps collecting that specific information period... a couple years ago? Can any devs here chime in on this? Does appear more than a bit phishy.

I am a developer (not of music apps). Here is the statement from the developer agreement about device IDs:

    " Further, neither You
nor Your Application will use any permanent, device-based identifier, or any data derived
therefrom, for purposes of uniquely identifying a device."

  • How did this pass through Apple review process?

Also: there has been hand wringing.

Well then is definitely no bueno. Do you know why Apple specifically doesn't allow this anymore, and what unscrupulous devs could potentially do with this data?

And, is it safe to assume that if we've already purchased this app, entered the prompted user name that creates an account upon launch, etc. that the dev's software has ALREADY captured this data?

There is a possibility that the unique id can be linked to an individual's identity along with other information contained on devices and how they are used. There are other ways to identify users anonymously for advertising purposes which Apple allows. I am hoping that this app's language does not accurately reflect what is going on, a new developer mistake or perhaps borrowing old language from other apps?

I did not request a refund, btw. I just reported the issue.
