  • Well said @MonzoPro

    The biggest problem for me is.....no wifi=no FRUM :/

    @usk , can you FIX it please, so it can .work OFF-LINE?

    In Japan, do you have wifi everywhere? What do you do, if you want to go somewhere with your iPad and play FRUM?
    Like to a park or some public place...

  • @MonzoPro sorry for saying earlier it saved locally, I thought it did, it appeared that way but really sucks that it is saving only to cloud. What happens if they move on or close server? Everyone looses

    No problem matey, I thought it had saved my song as well - it was only when I disconnected that I noticed my files weren't available.

  • They have agreed to delete all of my data. They have not responded to the idea of making this a standalone app which may not be possible as implemented.

  • About Privacy thing.

    We wrote "Unique Device ID" a.k.a. UDID , but it was WRONG.
    It is UIID standing for "Unique Installation IDentifier".
    It's officially provided by Apple, and even if it outflows on public place, you are safe.
    Scareful ID "UDID" which is stopped by Apple on 2012.
    So we use UIID but we missed to write UDID on Privacy Policy.
    This is so critical mistake...
    We will correct it.
    Thanks for pointing out.

    @Proppa said:
    what exactly does the opt-out option consist of?

    Opt-out option is to delete data from the server.

    What are we opting-out of

    I asked DEV for it, said "song, preset, like, username, comment and the device information.".
    It means all of the informations.

    and what then is the resulting functionality of Frum?

    FRUM will be initialized.

    PS- I do believe that the data-fears are most likely a misunderstanding here rather than a scam and hope this clears up quick so we can use this lovely app without the distraction.

    YEAAH!
    I hope it will be clear up ASAP.
    But I swear we just want you to play FRUM with great FM synthesis as easy as possible, not to collect the informations to intrigue with evil heart.

    @1P18
    Was it on grace? NOT YET!

    @Bartlinux
    Yes, Making musics is the greatest time for me too.
    I normally use hardwere machine but it's so awesome with FRUM too.
    I'm really effected by this app that I'm always really noticed to making sound with other machines.
    If you like making sound, I personally recommend FRUM really strongly.

    @MonzoPro
    I'm sorry about the offline things.
    But according to which I wrote on above, we only use UIID from your device so use it again when you want it!

    very helpful.
    Thank you.

    What about the rest?

    "In addition, the application may collect certain information automatically, including BUT NOT LIMITED TO, the type of mobile device you use, your mobile devices unique device ID, the IP address of your mobile device, your operating system, the type of mobile internet browsers you use and information about the way you use the application"

  • @usk , can you make it so it works without WIFI?

  • So - are we all back on board?

    With the dodgy UK Internet, I think I will give it a miss ;)

    @usk , can you FIX it please, so it can .work OFF-LINE?

    I'm sorry, that is not planned yet.
    Please use it at wifi or internet available place.
    You can also try the tethering with your mobile phone.

    In Japan, do you have wifi everywhere? What do you do, if you want to go somewhere with your iPad and play FRUM?
    Like to a park or some public place...

    We don't have wifi everywhere in Japan but when I go to the park, I will use my iPhone5 or other app (I like iMini) or play with the frisbee.

    But I saw my friend couldn't perform live at underground club party there was no internet connection.
    He played other musics instead of.
    Recentry there are getting wifi available club more in Japan, so I don't care about it.

    I personaly want the offline function for too underground club where is nowifi and for users like you who want to play FRUM everywhere.

    @MonzoPro
    DEV TEAM will refresh the privacy policy soon.
    Thank you for pointing out!

    I'm super sleepy now... I will check here tomorrow.
    If anyone has questions, please leave mentions.

    Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111qqqaaszzzzzzzz

    I am, the app is just too good not to...and for the price it's a steal... :)

  • It seems that this privacy issue is about as harmful as visiting a website that puts cookies on your system. They need to identify the iDevice somehow and this can all be circumvented by opting out. However, when you do that, you lose your presets and songs. I think, for this reason, presets and songs should be saved on the device or device+server (for backup), with a way to export.

    I also think the frum devs should come up with a way that sounds are saved on the device because when you go offline, you can't make music other than with the preloaded sounds that were there last time. I want access to all the sounds if I'm ever offline. I don't care if the app bloats to 85 megs. I would rather have everything loaded on my system than worry about space. Believe me, I like the app so much, I would dedicate 300 megs just so I can fully utilize it.

    And if you can't do this, I think it would be good to let people know that everything is saved online as opposed to on their device, before they buy it.

    So, to recap- I would like the ability to save songs and presets on my iPad/iPhone. I want all factory sounds, songs, and presets loaded onto my iPad/iPhone at all times.

    Thanks usk.

    Let the bug flow!

  • They are listening:

    _And thank you for your complement, we are also considering to make
    this app work without the network because I personally believe it is
    mandatory.
    Please be patient as we are a team of 3 and have not much time to develop.
    We will put audio export function soon, too.
    All the best,

    frum dev team_

  • Looks like you answered that, usk. Haha.

    Anyway, I was just thinking that maybe people like the fact that the app is only 3.5 megs. In that case, maybe an opt-in feature to have everything installed could work, for a future possible update, maybe?

  • @usk Well done for making a very cool and interesting app. Well done for coming here to talk and explain your ideas/intention and for responding to our worries. Communication is very important. I am a simple trusting happy fool :) and have decided to believe your words about privacy. I look forward to seeing your changes (about the privacy policy).

    On the technical side, and as everyone has said, many, many of us AND FUTURE BUYERS, would want to be able to use this app offline AND to be able to copy/export the cool music they make, either complete songs or MORE LIKELY loops or small pieces.

    It sounds as if your app may be built in a way that NEEDS to be online. If this is the case, and cannot be changed, please let us all know so we can understand what we can or cannot do.

    This is am excellent app, but if I cannot (one day!) export sound from it to another app, either by copying or by running it through Audiobus or IAA, then I am sorry but I cannot use it.

    Thank you again for talking with us. Whereabouts in Japan are you based? I spent a month in Osaka and Kyoto one summer and have been meaning to return ever since....

  • edited September 2016

    I finally bought the app 3 hours ago, because I felt their was no satanists behind all this...Just Japanese guys that needs some sleep !... :D
    I also want to support them for their next release with AB (that brings IAA for "free") , Link (comes "free" with AB also ?) and exporting...

  • @usk
    Offline version please! With AudioBus. We will praise you for it.

  • and you've lost my trust with the privacy issues
    That's the point

  • I will definitely be back on board when it works offline. Left a nice review

  • edited September 2016

    I am not asking for a refund because I think it is very very good. I don't want to take my support away frum you guys.

    @usk
    1 Would it be possible to increase the size of the text? On my mini it is very hard to see. Especially the sample name and the green pattern blocks. Maybe it could be made bigger or at least bold or black instead of grey? It looks like there is room to make all text at least a size or two bigger.
    2 Is there a way to loop the whole song when in song mode? I can loop a pattern but not the whole song (it stops at the end of the last pattern).
    3 Is there a reason when I 'duplicate' a pattern the name is not the same? Would be better if the name stayed the same no?

    I can't find much else to improve on. It's really well thought out. Well done.
    P.s. The privacy policy is one of the scariest things I've seen. Option is needed to not allow any collection of data, sending notifications or communication of any kind.

  • Live recording from the pads to improve workflow.

  • Tap tempo. Really dig this app (hoping it's no scam of course).

  • I've decided I'm content with the devs intent and admitted errors. It seems, mostly due to language miscommunication.

    I don't believe they were up to anything, but got sloppy as first time app developers.

    As for the app, mine works offline after first opening online. Not ideal and it certainly needs work, it I think they've made a pretty cool app and I'm going to give the. The benefit of doubt that they'll mostly likely refine and correct these first missteps out of the gate. I want them to continue to develop the app, so I'm sticking with it.

    Played with the app again last night and it's so fun with even more great potential.

    I'll resist judgment, and I greatly appreciate the appearance at the forum and the promise to do better, and I don't think they were trying to scam anybody. But judging from their website, they're hardly first-time developers. They have made a really neat app; I liked the sounds immediately and it's fun to use.

    However, they either do not understand the market, as seen by the closed system they have created. Or their business model is based on developing a "community" and eventually harvesting the information of the users of the community. There's no way that's an accident.

    EDIT: This sounds like an attack, and it's not meant to be. I'm just super-wary of "creative" business models in music apps. This is a large topic, and the deal with Frum is just one example in this. But I'd actually like to hear what Tim Webb at Discchord (@discchord ) says about this. He's been pretty vocal about financial shenanigans in apps.

    No disrespect to Mister Webb, but I would prefer to hear what he has to say in two weeks.

    You should say in the app description that loading and saving requires an internet connection and everything is saved on a server. Phone data is very expensive where I live.

    Actually Kobamoto, out of respect, I'd like to wait a bit first.
