Have not been able to reproduce any wonkiness, but am grateful that you sent me back to it. What a piece of work it can be with the right rhythm etc. Glad to have rediscovered but pity it lies untouched at the dev end. Could have been a contender (still is if it's working for you....)

Does it do anything unique? I've got Moebius, Turnado, Frekvens, Dedalus, DFX etc. etc. and wonder if it's got anything special up it's sleeve that those boys can't do.

I'm unlikely to spend £15 on an app that hasn't been updated for over two years, but curious to know what I might be missing. Shockingly small (5) number of vid demos about too.

with cs spectral, you can achieve things you can't do with other apps.delays are fantastic( if you appreciate experimentation).reverbs are truly original, without even mentioning spectral effects that are the heart of the app.

    Love it!!

    Sounds good Flo!

My favorite aspect is that you can hold down any button and then select randomization automation functions. So good!

Beware though, you may have a frozen ab transport bar and it may not play well with aum if that is your intended thing.

Here is a perc loop from afro latin dm( luis martinez) processed through cs spectral.
Amazing. Sure, you can use the app in a more subtle way. ;) https://www.dropbox.com/s/7fltigpot6bdkg2/Cs spectral demo.m4a?dl=0

The 'frozen' Ab thing is that 'turn it upside down and it works' bug/hack.

@MonzoPro As regards why it is lovely: I think it IS unique, and variously so, but hard to explain (although easy to use :)). I find it also hard to have you spend 15 of your hard-earned on anything without a better explanation BUT two things: 1. It must be said that when I re-discovered this and was making it do lovely odd things I thought 'Hmmm The Monz must love this' and 2. It's Friday.

It's a very old/simple bug which most apps (that were subject to it) quickly fixed. This is my only issue with this baby, will it ever get some more fiddling? Having said that, I am running it nicely on the Big Boy (12.9/latest).

Do you use AUM? if so have you tried it in AUM?

  • edited October 2016

@AudioGus Have not, tend to run a loop in AS and just fiddle for about an hour before realizing it wasn't just ten minutes...saving presets all the while. Find it particularly good for taking stock sounds (say a Neo melody line) and then goosing....I will try AUM and report back....

cool thanks man. I have good luck running it from AB into Blocs but would just love to use the AUM file player as i can double and halve the playback speed easily..

Can't get it to load as an effect in AUM directly, but works fine as AB. Set it up with sunrizer (always my handy test soldier) and then recorded smoothly from there....no problems. Off for a lunchtime paddle in Barton Springs, but if you want me to look at anything else just give me a holler and I'll take a run at it later on...

Cool cool, thanks for the sleuthing, I appreciate it and the rotatey tip . I now suspect everyone is likely in the same boat. There are ways around the issues so no biggee. Enjoy your soak!

The randomiser sounds good, Aum is my usual thing though, so that's a bit of a pain - though I could always route it via AB I guess.

if it was a fiver (and I wasn't upgrading my house this month) I'd take a punt...but the state of abandonment worries me. If it stops working in future updates of AB (will it work in AB 3 for example?) then it's buggered, and then there's always the possibility it'll disappear from the store. If it worked in Aum/IAA then the risk would be spread a bit but...hmmm...

The one glimmer of hope for me is that they released another app about seven months ago so they are still in iOSland... but yah, could be risky!

Yeah, shame really. I'll leave it on my wish list, but it's on hold until it either gets an update or goes on sale.

I am very happy to have it and intend to try (desperately) to come up with something for SOTMC this weekend using it BUT my money is already long ago spent and can completely agree with/understand your plan...

I haven't done anything apart from a few weird clunks and squeaks this month, so I'm sparing regular listeners from that ordeal. Maybe next month when the house move is over I'll get a fat chance to do something vaguely tuneful.
