Aum or bm2?

Mainly using auria, but since that or cubasis is not universal i need a host for my phone. Mostly would be for synced long form recording of moog model 15 or ODYSSEi and bm1, seekbeats, with xynthesizr. Coming up with a bunch of cool jams with this stuff and want to be able to record it and be able to export it to ableton or auria to expand on Au ready is a plus.
Which one would better for this?

  • Beatmaker 2 for me. AUM has the file players but if lining up a bunch of overdubs is the goal, that's not really what it's made for it. Though it can do it! Also, AUM is a track per screen on the iPhone version. BM can be a beast though, as you've probably read.

Did multitrack daw ever get LINK? If so, definitely the cleanest if you don't need MIDI note capture. I think it does have MIDI clock sync but don't quote me.

  • I'm going to say AUM. Even with the one channel per page on the iPhone you should be good with long recordings.

  • It depends on workflow... BM is more self-contained and AUM is for IAA and more focused in one-take workflow. If only audio syncing is need AUM could do the job (in addition to AudioShare) but no midi as @syrupcore pointed.
I didn't try multitrack but I use garageband for these task and looking time to time to buy someday Auria...

  • Just reread the post. If your just looking to record jams with those apps and not do overdubs on the iPhone AUM has you covered. If you're looking to record all of those apps at once, could be a lot if swiping and tapping.

  • If you don't need MIDI recording and editing, AUM would be superior to BM2 due to AUM's IAA Effects & AU support. BM3 is slated to have these though BM3 is in beta testing.

Sjt dahshbbiuldder AURIA PRO BOW. NOW

  • Dude if they don't hook it up with a deal.. it's qlenoigh for me to give up iOS shit. I'll get musicio and hook it up to the desktop and call it a mothafukn day.

  • Btw.. mcgregor will beat mayweathers old cheap punk arse

  • Oookay... got aum. 3 dollars cheaper now. Really good graphics and space.

  • AUM is just a must have app for every iOS musician in my opinion. BM2 has its uses, but you are likely never going to see any updates because BM3 is coming, so it may have limited lifespan if there is no upgrade program.
