Takete seems to have a sale or a price drop

I didn't purchase this yet but the lite version is impressive.

Agreed, I like the lite version a bunch. This is becoming a reasonable price. Probably won't buy it till it's $20 though.

Well. Crap, this stuff looks really good. I now have a $31.99 app on my wishlist. I thought I had left these expensive desires behind when I bought Auria Pro.

  • And it has Ableton Link. And MIDI learn. I think I'll go satisfy my cravings with the lite version.

  • I've been lusting after this one for months... But I just can't justify it. It's really design mostly for live performance. Maybe I'll download the lite one again too and try to come to my senses. ;)

Weird. When I try and view Takete in the App Store I get a blank screen with 'retry' on it. Can't view the app, but can see the Lite version fine. Loads of problems with the App Store recently.

  • Me too.

Try this one? It works for me.

Ah cool, yeah that works :)

  • Cool app

Deserved more praise than it get

  • I'd be interested in this as a little Xmas treat- anyone know how long the sale is on for?

  • takete is Awesome, i did fall for it and did by the full version and it is so goood especially if you put some time into it and put in some good samples, the internal Sound sources... well i havent used them that much

  • I'm entirely uninterested in the Audio, not due to any of its feature/ lack of, but because it is overshadowed by the video manipulation. Mmmm, Link synced video FX, yes please. Anyone seen any good examples of that? Youtube?

I'm curious too. I haven't seen anything particularly impressive from it. I was emailing with the dev yesterday trying to get info on the output quality, ie. whether the WXGA is 16:9 or not... he thinks, but wasn't sure that it might be 1200x800. He wouldn't tell me how long it'd be on sale, and he basically suggested that it doesn't sound like it'd be a good app for me. Kinda strange. Maybe he thinks I'd bug him too much with questions?

Anyway... still marginally interested if I could find something impressive someone has done with the current version. The dev's demos look like it's almost 100% targeted at live performance projections where the visual image quality doesn't really have to be all that great.

Small warning bells are sounding for me, but I'm still interested in this one if it's on sale for a few weeks.

The dev's video above does look pretty cool though. I don't recall the live scrolling and scaling around the image when I played with the LITE version last Spring... might be too hard to resist, but I'm going to hold fast for now. I don't feel comfortable that the dev would be all that keen on answering questions directly once I dug into the app.

  • Certainly a unique app. I'm tempted too and would definitely give in at the £15 mark. I'm more interested in the audio side though since I'd rather have more visual options on a dedicated computer so as not to deal with the iOS file system. And if I really wanted to do it all on an ipad I'd use 2 ipads. 1 for the audio and 1 for the visuals. Having it all on 1 screen would put me off a bit. I think if he added a Full HD option it would be an added incentive though.

He said XGA and WXGA was as far as he's going and has no plans of anything higher. The exchanges in general were a bit off-putting... like he really can't be bothered.

By the way, you can fade out the video so that you can see just the controls, without actually fading the actual video out, ie. it has an opacity lever that only effects the control screen.

That's the thing. I can't see myself using it live and would prefer to use Max for Live. But I like the look of the audio side of the app.

Yeah, I like the interface for sure... that's why I'm still considering despite my less than cheery exchange with the dev.

Still, $30 is a lot to drop if you can't at least get a warm fuzzy about the dev. I get the impression that he already thinks of me as a nuisance with all my "irritating" output resolution questions. I shudder to think how it'd go if I bought the app and needed some tech support. ;)

  • I won't bother again with the history of my "exchange" with the dev. It's a good idea though, to research the development of other Apps by the man, before you purchase...
    Lots of promises...

  • @MonzoPro : look up the old threads, it's all been said. Don't you remember yourself? (of course I mean your old self, monzo)

I feel the same these days, but you got the upgrade to 'Pro'.

I'm a bit like the Pages update - easier on the eye but missing essential functionality:(

I don't think so - he's just clear about application target, which is full video in your case and low-res live video in what's the app supposed to provide.
Even as a non-export in this domain, I know that encoding/decoding the stuff you're interested in is a significant amount of extra effort - without significant improvement.

Hm, this why I didn't buy it.
    Optic interesting, sound meh.

I remember it was hard to get a reply or straight answer from the dev last Spring... the first time I considered buying it. Maybe he's just not a tech support/customer service kind a guy. Even the answer I finally got was short and vague. I then told him that I'd looked up what the standard WXGA res and there was a variety of specs... could he please tell me which one it was. He didn't answer at first, and then I looked up some possibilities and he said something like, "I seem to recall that it was around 1280x800... if memory serves, etc."

So, even finally I didn't get a definitive answer.

That's not a dealbreaker for me though. There are a lot of devs who can't even be bothered to reply at all. The good and responsive ones seem to be a rarity.

He's created a cool app that I'm sure I would enjoy. I may end up getting it anyway, with the realization that I may not get very good tech support if there are problems with the app, or I need to get some clarity on something. It was like this too back in the Spring. And that's ultimately why I didn't buy back then either.

I've also not seen any really cool finished products with this app either. The dev's video and most recent demo is decent, but it's not much different than a year ago, ie. the same vampire clip that I guess ships with the app.

There are some on this forum who say they've bought the app and like it, but I haven't seen anything they've made with it. Any cool samples out there made with that app that someone could point me to? Or, post their own in this thread?

  • Im a happy user although I dont use it that much. I bought it during the first sale and its definitely improved a lot since then. Its not perfect and lots of things arent that intuitive but there is no competition on the ipad in terms of functionality and most importantly its fun.

This is the user area of their yt channel

I was going to ask the same thing - all the available vids seem to be of the app itself, or of someone using it on an iPad. I'd like to see some decent examples of finished exported vids from the paid app.

Considering the price and point of the app, I'm surprised the dev hasn't put any up.
