Can Gadget record Program Change messages?
Oh come on Korg... I really don't need another midi controller. I have spent hard earned money on midi controllers that are built like a tank and intend to use until usb is defunct.
Lets save the planet and sort this out with an update. I'm happy to pay a reasonable sum for it. What's the net profit on an nKS sale?
Yes it can record parameter changes... just hit record and tweek a parameter. The changes appear as a graph under the notes in the piano roll. You can also edit these manually in graph view. To delete the parameter change recording you can swipe the specific parameter graph lable (on the left) for that parameter and delete the contents of the graph... though I can't remember if it's a right or left swipe.
Does that mean “Yes” it can record PC messages, and by the way it can also record parameter changes,
or does that mean “whilst although it can’t record PC messages, there's an unrelated thing that it can do, which is, Yes indeed, it can record parameter changes, usually in the form of CC messages, or Control Change messages”.
There's a difference, you know (or perhaps didn't know).
Ah yeah sorry I'm not the best reader on the best of days.
Hi there! :-) from what i keep, is still not possible to control the "transport bar" of KOrg Gadget (play-rec-stop-mute-solo..)either then using nanoKontrol/studio. Is it correct?
I have also another main need, is about "key range" settings.
I cant figure how to set it , i mean lets say i want "Dublin" bass, will play just from C1 to C2 of my keyboard....is a very simple feature, did i miss how to set it up?
thanks for help
Sadly, that is still correct about the transport bar of Gadget.
As for your other question, I don't know of any way to do that within Gadget. But, it's possible with an app called MidiFlow. There is also an Audiobus 3 Midi filter called MF Splitter that could do this, except Gadget doesn't work in the Midi section of Audiobus 3 yet, so you have to go through some other hoops to do it that way.
thanks wim! So it seems that Korg Gadget does not implement itself "key range" midi function "natively" (as e.g. SampleTank 3 very easily with a slide touch u can set the "active range" of each instruments)...ok so lets see...but which "MidiFlow" you are referring, as i see many version, and it seems that all requires "Audiobus 3" it isnt?
Well, sadly, it's complicated. Because of Gadget not currently being able to be placed in a MIDI receiver position in AudioBus 3, the nice AudioBus midi filters from @JohannesD won't work in this situation. So, it has to be kludged together the old way with the older non-Audiobus MidiFlow standalone app ... which is still well worth having in any case.
I can't take the time until this evening to lay it out in detail, but it basically involves putting your keyboard as the input to MidiFlow, and Gadget as the output, with a note-mapping filter in between, then repeating that for each split you want. Its a kludge for sure, but it does work.
OK, so here's a configuration that works. Maybe more pain than it's worth, but there you go. Remember to turn on advanced midi configuration in Gadget to be able to set the channel numbers.

thank you very much for support wim! so Midiflow-MIDI router/processor...from the same Johannes Doerr...right?
anyway do anybody know if Korg have on the routemap to implement "key range" in GAdget?
On my iPhone I can open the function menu (bottom left) And just tap the name of the knob I want to assing, tweak the knob on my LPD8 wireless And so on. .. Cant be more diffucult when using a korg controller I suppose
I guess with the last update, you can assign transport controls to your controller. Still unsure if you can launch scenes like in ableton.
Are there any new developments with this? I got the transport working but no mute/solo etc. with a 3rd party controller. It’s be nice if it supported hui, mcu etc.
And does program change work?
