  • I don't know if this is the right place to post my query but here goes. I have an iPhone. I would like an app to access a FLAC music collection (with metadata) from a server on our home network. Everything else in our world is Windows. All I want to do is find and initiate play from the app. UPNP (Universal...) was mentioned by my husband who's not available for clarifying.

MusicStreamer from Stratospherix is far and away the BEST music player. I tried dozens, before discovering this gem. Streams perfectly from my NAS drive, (downloading and iTunes NOT required) using Air Play. Very reliable, easy to use, can save playlists and change on-the-fly as ideas for what to play occur. Alas, still awaiting Folder View.

  • Hey guys, check out Flacbox - Free FLAC Music Player and Downloader for your iPhone. It has many useful features, just some of them: 10-band Equalizer, Audio Bookmarks, Sleep-Timer, Playback sped control. You can stream FLAC music from the cloud or your home computer using SMB.

You can read more about Flacbox here:
    everappz.com/index.php/app/flap/

  • IFiles 2 plays flac files.
The IAA-Generator is broken in the current version.

Cubasis also accepts flac files :)

  • Has anyone come across a player that handles Mogg files?

Haven't tried it myself but the description does mention UPnP/DLNA
    VLC for iOS by VideoLAN

Thanks goes to @EvolvingAlex who mentioned it earlier in this thread

CanOpener gets my vote, you get full FLAC support and crossfeeding algorithms. Makes listening on headphones a totally different (better) experience.

    Found this http://canopenerapp.com/
But it doesn't appear to be available in the app store at the moment :(

  • Yes, sadly they stopped continuing support for it, I just found out last week. Still available as a plugin on the desktop, but no more CanOpener on iOS.

  • IAudioGate by KORG :) The best eq amongst the audio players on iOS and 'tube coloring' the sound of your FLAC files (IMHO).
