I built a thing to replace my iPad. Raspberry Pi Looping station
Just for my live set, still recording/arranging with iPad. Thought I'd share it here as there was some discussion around Raspberry pi recently.

That's been my issue and whats stopping me from building my own. If anyone knows where you can get mpc style pads and fsr let us know

I think it's just the rubber though. You'd have to build a switch yourself.
edit: if you scroll through, some have switches. Not cheap though. The cheapest is the single switch, used, for $5. Seems to have a built in switch. Not sure what quantity you can order.
Yeah i know about the pads. I was just talking about the force sensing resistors they made as flat sheets or the ones on PCBs

Yikes, those pads are pricey. Maybe someday there will be some cheaper options out there.
They are fixed for now, scaled to aMin which currently suits my needs. It would probably be pretty easy to add transposition though. I didn't mention it in the video but you can also play all the instruments with external Midi gear from the usb in the back.

Was just at an event on “digital lutherie” and people were building interesting stuff like this. Way above my current skills but it’d be great to get there, eventually. Even applied for a kind of idea accelerator/incubator in order to take on such a project.

Is the latency ok ? I have a pi B (single core) way underpowered and never worked below 256 buffer without glitches. Did you use any low-latency or RT kernel patch?
This is awesome! How is the latency for the live triggered sounds? There's a new shield coming soon, pisound. I'm thinking about making a pi looper/effects pedal with it, but it's heavily geared toward PD.

The latency is fine for me. I only notice latency when running vocals through it. As for the instruments its not perceivable to me. I've looked at the pisound a bit, looks really nice. Their campaign was ongoing while I was working on this project so I may check that out for my next one, whenever that may be.
I'm not using a low-latency or RT kernel patch.
