Once again it cuts off 2/3 of my comment. Wtf?
@Bootsy Thank you so much. It tested me but great fun to make. She's heard now and would like to do more... with a mic. Think I'll tread very carefully when it comes to covering Anti-Nowhere Leagues classic 'So What.' Now, if I could get the whole choir involved.....
@Bootsy I'm running out of superlatives, I guess I should maybe just cut and paste the same post every month
Wonderful vocals: check
Excellent guitar playing: check
The guitar playing I thought was particularly tight in this one, on my nice big speakers (finally out of storage) it feels like the steel string guitar is suspended in the room in front of me. The pitch-perfect vocals have just the right level of expressiveness, not too strong but with that laid-back and subtle delivery that is full of emotion. You always enhance every song you perform.
Still not keen on the reverb tail, but otherwise the production is flawless.
@jwmmakerofmusic that's a great cover: a pretty cheesy bit of latin pop turned into a a growling, menacing dark EDM anthem. It's barely recognisable, and so much better for it
I'm waiting for you to tackle Ricky Martin next...
Really love the vocoded vocal, in fact I'm off to the App Store to buy Sparkle as we speak!
@Bluepunk I think that is the best mashup of all time, it's utterly utterly mad and I couldn't stop grinning when listening to this one. I really like that Eels song, and this version has gone Mars and back.
Your voice also sounds great, nice and gritty. I think maybe you've been practicing as well when the missus is out.
Uhhh, okay, but Ricky's a dude. I'm sure you meant that I should cover Ric...yeah, that's not sounding any better is it?
I pretty much agree. Baila Loca was a track from my teenaged youth, and back in the day, it was brilliant. The production of the original sounds dated by now, but it still has all that sentimental value.
However, the track's melody is pretty great, and it really does deserve an upgrade. I may jolly well rebuild it in FLSM.
Thanks mate.
Sparkle is a bit of a beast and can go deeper than any other vocoder out there when you want to experiment with sonic textures and all that.
Thank you and glad it made you smile. Yep, whistling, humming, yodelling.... driving her nuts. This singing lark is great for wellbeing, pumps those endorphins hard and fast.
Thank you for those kind words! This one was done awhile back so I don't remember what reverb I was using. It was one of those songs I thought no way will I be able to play and sing simultaneously, but again I dumbed it down enough to get it done. Thanks again.
