Trouble with comments on the forum
Anyone else write a comment, hit post comment, and have half or more of your words just disappear?

Ah. Here's a little advice from someone who grew up during the nightmarish times when dial-up reigned supreme, type out your replies in a notepad and then copy/paste them. On iOS, I like IA Writer as it's about the closest to a no-frills typing app like Windows Notepad as you can get. That would be Fast Notepad on the Android. Why?
My first PC from the 90s was very solid despite having 2gb harddrive space (yeah, let that sink in), probably 32mb RAM, and a processor decent enough for word processing. My second and third PCs from the 00s were also decent, boasting better specs. However, dialup where I lived stunk. Never knew when the bastard would cut out. So, I started using a notepad.
Android phones suck. Either they have one thing or another wrong with them, or you purchased the most expensive Samsung available. I had two phones with very stuttery processors. My LG Volt loved to restrict my abilities to type a reply in Gmail due to some weird miscommunication between my phone and Google, and so I got Fast Notepad.
My first iPad was an iPad 2. It ran smooth until Apple decided to f-ck it up with iOS 8. Until I was able to get an iPad Air 2, I was stuck in place. So, I got IA Writer. I've never had problems replying to things on the iPad Air 2, but quite often I will use IA Writer (especially if I have to find the link to something in a reply, and the iPad decides to drop the posting page out of its RAM).
So, bottom line. Just use a notepad to type the reply. If it's only half posted, you can easily edit the post and paste the full thing. Cheers.

Yes, some weird stuff has been happening lately.
I use Notes (the built-in thing on the iPad), which has the advantage that the same text I typed sometimes also shows up on Notes on the Mac. It also has the advantage that if I ever said anything of any great araldite, I have an easy to search-for pile of notes in one place.
You don't even need to use a seperate app, after you write a long reply just hit CMD+A then CMD+C just in case.
Just happened to me when posting a lengthy message, only the first line survived, rubbish
It happened to me a few times yesterday when trying to edit a post. I would hit save and the post would just disappear. I finally noticed a little message pop up in the lower left corner of the screen telling me the post was awaiting moderation, or something to that effect.
I agree with all this. @jwmmakerofmusic I too had an early internet days PC, an emachines 75mhz 1GB I got in late 1995. Yes that's MEGAhertz clock speed (!). I guess the RAM (a whopping 256 MB) was shit because I would routinely lose chatroom replies, forum/bulletin board replies, even emails mid composition.
It got me in the habit of writing my stuff in a word processing utility and copy & pasting it over. Early Android phones & the early Chrome browsers would lose stuff too, or fail to send. With every press of the back button I NEVER got lucky and had my comments/post reappear.
So when you windbag & write novellas like my ass is prone to do, the copy & paste method is good insurance. I'll forget or get lazy sometimes, and with a draft saving mechanism like this forum & WordPress have you can get a false sense of security for sure...

Whoah, that's a new one. I know that our spam filter is pretty strict and sometimes filters posts by regulars that include too many links and quotes. But I haven't heard of this before.

Only had the one quote and no links, just words oh and an emoticon. Maybe that was it. It seemed to cut the emoticon out and everything after.
