Always one step ahead ! Is it the same concept than Kq miniSynth in term of synthesis ?

It's a pre-wired modular (like e.g. the 0-coast) with internally normalized connections. Why? Because this makes it easy to jump in without having a clue about west-coast synthesis. Shit will work without patching a single wire into it ;)

Then you can go wild plugging cables in willy-nilly and see what happens. It's much more free-form than east-coast modulars (like the Model 15). You can turn the slope into an LFO, or loop it so it becomes a pseudo oscillator. Or you can route the output of the Lopass Gate into the Oscillator's FM for screeching chaos, Use the LFOs for triggering envelopes while modulating its rate with random noise, etc. etc.

Audio and control voltages run @ 4x oversampling speeds, so you can abuse anything as an audio signal or vice versa and it's all at a min. of 176KHz sampling rates. B)

    This sounds lovely. Can't wait.

  • ah! B ram B os ..... B ebe B arron , coincidence?

Will it be on iPhone as well?

Yes, I intend to make it Universal

I beta test for tons of apps right now If you need beta tester In in testflight [email protected]. I would like to prepare a youtube tutorial when you lift them embargo

  • Thanks for the enthusiasm, guys... and indeed.. youtube vids are always welcome! I'll keep you posted of progress...

    Yay!!!

  • Nice, i love modulars.

  • Looks great... Hurry up and release it!!! :)

@brambos Actually, already got some feedback: An option for translucent cables might be good, like the Model 15 has, if it doesn't have this already.

  • I always see it as Bram Bros. :o Does the other brother ever post here? Looking forward to this one!

  • Looks and sounds fantastic. I see two audio inputs in the lower left. Will those both exposed to something like AUM? Are there other audio rate inputs? I see a sequencer input as well.

Cable design looks great. That's a big jump from the existing modules. Congrats on that!

  • Every time I see another outstanding app from Bram Bos I get nostalgic for my original favorite comfort drum machine: HAMMERHEAD. I know we are loaded with many amazing drum machines, but I would feel all warm and fuzzy if I could download and use Hammerhead on iOS. I'm not trying to derail, just trying to praise this great developer.

  • Great sounds, love the concept

  • What might be visually interesting from a UX point of view is to go further with the virtual cables than anyone has ever gone before, and rip a page out of the book of word processing. Don't just stick with solid lines in 3D relief shading. Let's have short dashed; long dashed; short/long dashed; dotted, wide spaced dotted (both of which would look like strings of pearls) and such like. That'd have the same visual 'this is a single connected cable' aesthetic, but you'd be able to see a lot through it, too.

I was going to suggest picking up the accelerometer sensor to make the cables hang in the upside down direction (upwards) if you tip the ipad upside down, but then I remembered the whole screen would swing upside down, so forget that. (But shaking the ipad could jiggle the cables).

  • Not really sure what it is or what I'd use it for, but as always with Brambos, it's interesting.

good plan... and i would like to see tiny fishes ( or mermaids? ) swimming down the tubes in the direction of signal flow..

Nice. Insta buy for me. Closest sound to a trautonium I have heard yet on iOS (or any synth for that matter).

On the subject of generative Krell(*) patches... some people have raised this to an art form. Check out Todd Barton's Krell experiments. Very nice, if you're into that sort of thing B)

Thank you for sharing these Todd Barton pieces. Excellent stuff. Krell Musak 2 is quite Zappa like!

(*) Krell is a reference to the ancient alien race from the 50's sci-fi movie "Forbidden Planet". Their music inspired modular synthesists to recreate similar generative patches using Buchla (and similar) synth modules.

Nice to see the Krell reference here. I work for a non-profit named "The Krell Institute" as a research computer scientist and we are well versed on the subject of Krell  My work is developing performance analysis tools for the large super computers used at the national labs (think manhattan project) and places like NASA where programs scale to hundreds of thousands of cores and the parallel programming paradigms are any combination of mpi , openmp, and gpu's...

That's actually a 'maths' utility section. You can use it for many different signal manipulation tricks: attenuating signals, generating constant voltages and DC offsets, mixing/summing signals, splitting a signal into two copies , etc..

  • In my mind, the money is already gone :)

I'm already requesting some obscure features and complaining about the price.

    (just kidding)

Here's hammerhead touch edition running on my iPhone. No longer makes any sound on ios10 and crashes the phone on exit. No longer available on the App Store either.
But there was a time you could get hammerhead on iOS !!

  • Where was this BEFORE I bought my 0-Coast? Very cool, looking forward to trying this out!

(thanks for making it universal too)

I'm bummed out that I missed it! It worked in a way where I could suddenly disco up the beats with one button, I should have gotten it while it was out there.

That was a looooong time ago. Years before Audiobus and serious audio connectivity (using some really ancient iOS audio APIs that were deprecated after iOS 4 iirc).

I may bring it back to life at some point. But first there are other things to finish/update.. ;-)
