MIDI patterns to drum synths
Just trying to work out my options for sending MIDI to drum apps (in this case @brambos Ruismaker and Ruismaker FM).
What apps do you sequence your patterns in to send to your drum apps that accept MIDI in? Or do you build up live loops with pads? Any tips?

I use modstep + AUM for those duties. Or I host ruismaker in Auria pro.
I highly recommend Patterning.
It's for iPad only though. Are you looking for something for both iPad and iPhone?
I use cubasis a lot for that. AB3 and krft work well also depending on what your doing with it.

Don't have Modstep. Holding out for BM3 as my iOS DAW! (I have a long white beard to prove it...)
I do have Patterning but haven't played with the MIDI out yet. Excellent! Picked up KRFT when it came out too. Can't wait to get into that.
I have basically been stockpiling apps since coming across this forum and the FB group (yes, it's your fault!) but have not really been able to put them through their paces on my ancient iPad. Have been waiting patiently for the new iPad Pro's so a 10.5 should arrive in a couple of days. Lucky me!
Just realized Different Drummer has MIDI out on the iPhone. Not sure what I'm doing wrong though? I select MIDI out, channels 1-8 in DD. Then load Ruismaker FM in AUM. Route the MIDI from DD. Then I'm not sure what I need to do as no sound at this point.
I have tried playing with the settings on the AUM MIDI channels screen but can't get it to produce a sound.
I'm sure I'm missing something obvious here...
Are the notes DD is sending out the same notes that Ruismaker expects? Check out page 8 here: http://ruismaker.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/ruismaker_fm_guide.pdf
You can also switch Ruismaker to a gm drum mapping in the iOS settings app if you need to. I'm not sure what notes DD is sending out but I'd try that for possible quick fix.
I uploaded a preset for Ruis on DD some time back. Note that you might need to toggle Ruis in the settings screen for GM on/off to get it to work though.
Nice - I have got your preset working! Thank you! So what is different about your preset vs another pattern that gets it talking to Ruis?

All I did was ensure that the notes DD is sending match what Ruis is expecting on each track/drum. See image below where track 1 is sending note 36. From there, you can modify the rests, ties, and velocity in DD to generate the rhythm you want.
Thanks @funjunkie27 - maybe it's an iPhone view problem. I can't find the MIDI icon to get into the note settings. Weird. iPhone 7+
@technemedia - Hi, please can you confirm if there is a layout issue with the iPhone 7+? I cannot seem to see all of the options. Also, switching from portrait to landscape seems to break the layout as well.
I do however reserve the right to be doing something daft and for this to be user error....
