This looks nice because of the USB MIDI keyboard plug in. Finally. I opted for the original Studio Connect because I'm such a cheapskate and it's only $39 at Sweetwater right now. Ask for Dustin Keesbury, he was my sales Rep and was super informative and helpful with all the connection & accessory questions I had!
I really want that older StudioConnect at that price. Happy to see Sweetwater still has it available. One question though. Does anyone know if this will work with lightening connector devices if you have an adapter?

@JuniorPops, I'm talking about the older one that's on Sweetwater for 39 bucks. Is that what you're talking about too? I only see 30pin on this one in the images here and the description makes it sound like it's only 30pin, but I could be wrong. The one you originally posted is nice too, though ;-)
Blocks part of the screen with the knobs...totally counterintuitive to a touch-screen.

@boone51 yep it works with the lightning to 30-pin as long as you use one made by Apple.
Would this work with an M-Audio Oxygen 25 keyboard? I currently can't use this with the Alesis iOdock, I think because the ioDock does not provide power to the keyboard. It would be great if this one did!
Hey is the IPhone microphone output stereo or mono ? I plan to use an old IPhone as a mic into the Stereo input port so I can keep my guitar plugged in.
@trust you need a power source for the keyboard on the old one, but the new one has both types of USB plugs, one to power those keyboards.
Thanks @NoiseHorse. I see that you're saying the older one may require a power source for some keyboards. Is that for keyboards that even typically run off the iPads power alone? I have th m-audio keystaton 64 and it runs fine when I plug it into my ipad (even when I had a 2) without problems. I'm talking about the older version of the dock still, fyi. Thanks again!
@boone51: yes I think so in your case. I use a Samson Carbon49 that is USB power only. Great plugged directly into the IPad , but on my $39 Griffin I need a USB cord to go to either the back of my old PC, or I'm gonna try using an old IPhone USBtoWallPlug connector that charged my old IPhone and see if it's ok or not. The $39 Griffin USB port is that flat one that transmits data only and zero power.

Really like the1/4" outs on this new unit. That was my only complaint about the original. Still, at $39 that's crazy cheap for what the old unit does
I just ordered the Griffin studio connect with lightning. I found it for 88 bucks and free shipping. I want to be able to record my hardware workstation and synth into cubasis. Been thinking I would wait for the hd but fall is too far away and it is more than 100 dollars more. The only thing Is you can not hook condensor mics straight into it but I have a boss br-1180cd recorder that has phantom power I would use for vocals. This should be great fun when hooked up to my Korg M50 w/Karma and my strat hooked into JamupPro Xt. The fun begins next wednesday the day after my B'day it will arrive! Yeeeahhh!
correction , I did pay 6 dollars shipping, still a decent price for what it will do.

Hey, I just got my $39 Griffin today. I plugged my Carbon49 into it thru the MIDI 5-pin cable (and powered my Carbon with a IPhone wall charger connected to a Flat USB-to-tinyUSB cable into the USB input on my Carbon49 keyboard. I also plugged my guitar into the 1/4" jack (I ran an ole Digitech 150 guitar pedal in between) and that level can be controlled with the little wheel on the side of the Griffin interface. I also plugged an 1/8" stereo cord into that input on the back of the Griffin, and plugged it into my old IPhone which is loaded with vocal & reverb type apps, to use it as a Microphone, which I can control the level using the Phone's volume. I recorded all 3 inputs simultaneously thru Audiobus into Auria, and threw Funbox in at the same time. The Griffin StudioConnect can do all of its inputs at the same time with no problems! However in my quick test, the mic input and guitar input were on the same track. MIDI was separate. This dude is definitely worth $39 for what I'm doing. Ps: IPad4 using an Apple lightning adapter.
That is great to know noisehorse, especially the part about powering the samson carbon 49. I just got that same keyboard and I really like it alot. Just being able to use it without any worries about charging is great news even though myiPad mini will run the carbon for hours off a charge. It could come in useful for very long sessions.
Yep indeedy @Tritonman, I think the Samson folks should put specifics like that into the product description. Griffin too. Probably everybody else whipping out these products. I guess I have gotten spoiled by the level of in-depth info for apps like the manual for Auria. I hope you Jam your ass off on Wednesday, and Happy Birthday dude!
