12.9 or 10.5 iPad Pro?
I'm going to be upgrading my iPad mini 2 to the iPad Pro, but I don't know if I should get the 12.9 or 10.5 model. The internal specs seem to be the same and I don't want the price difference to be a factor in my choice. So I guess I'm thinking about size and ease of use for music making. A bigger screen vs a little lighter, maybe easier to hold? I don't know. Any recommendations or thoughts?

I have the 12. Not hard to hold at all. Why would anyone not want the bigger screen if they can afford it?
I have the 12.9 and I love it but if you have a keyboard controller , things can get a little awkward. I have the split screen and all with the 12.9 but the 10.5 size is sexy as all get out. Much more manueverable w one hand .
Maybe because the 10.5“ can handle a bit more stuff since Apple don‘t put a better gpu and more RAM into it to handle the mote pixels the 12.9“ has.
But it also could be better that the 12.9“ doesn‘t throttle so much at full workload since it has more room for cooling.
I wait for the 15“ version
I'm not currently in the market for a new iPad but if my eyes continue to degrade at the current phase I might end up with a 12.9 or so, currently rocking an iPad Air 2...

Depends what you need. If you are a globetrotter, 10.5 is better. If you intend to make your music at home, take 12.9.
I think I will end up having both actually. One for trips and one for home. But I happen to write books too and 10.5 is more handy to write or mix in the subway for instance.

I am going completely against that advice today actually because I want one NOW!
I currently have a bricked 9.7 and if that can't be replaced I will probably go with the 10.5. I'm on the go a lot and any bigger doesn't suit my needs. If I wasn't as mobile it may be different.
The new model won't change much. For new pros, you might want to wait for 2019 cause the real Oled screens will come in handy. 10.5 is already a powerhouse. You can run anything on it, no cracks, no glitches.
I owned a 12.9” screen and the larger size was definitely appealing for the more complex apps and app setups. If you do any drawing or digital painting, the larger size with an Apple Pencil was a great experience that is so much better than on the small screen.

The 12.9" is 100% worth it. Think about it this way - it's only the size of a magazine. Extra screen real estate is invaluable for things like Model 15 (obviously), Odyssei and anything else with teeny knobs.
12.9". Can’t see any foreseeable future where I get back to smaller screens

As a professional geek I’m fortunate enough to have the OG 12.9 and just upgraded my Air 2 to the 10.5. If I could only have one I’d go 12.9 with no hesitation, no replacement for displacement screen real estate. The 10.5 is much more convenient for consumption. It’s light and easy to hold for reading, although ComiXology on the 12.9 is amazing For drawing, using music apps, and eventual portable dual screen use with the AstroPad Luna, the 12.9 can’t be beat.
The Moog Model 15 on the 12.9 is legit...
