Anybody have problems with Sensual Sax when driven by MIDI?

I wrote out the sax solo in Pink Floyd's Money to try out some sax sounds.

The Alto sax in Auria / Lyra sounded surprisingly good.

However, when driving Sensual Sax as an AU in Lyra with the exact same MIDI, it seems to play just under a whole tone lower in pitch. Played against the bass and drums, it is really painful to hear. Sensual Sax is playing in the "Sustain" mode with the dial all the way down to be comparable to the Lyra alto sax.

Thanks for any help! I believe sax parts are written in a different clef than treble / bass, so maybe that is the cause, but even after transposing the Sensual Sax MIDI up a note, it still sounded slightly off key.

Comments

  • I did not have any issue using it with my MIDI controller but I didn't try running it with a prepared MIDI track. Did you try to use another AU with the same MIDI track?

  • No problem with the first three synth AU's I tried. Very odd.

  • Didn’t have an issue apart from the fact that CCs are pre-assigned to certain things. (Sending breath control, CC#2, was constantly switching between sustain and not.)

  • OK. I have a note into the developer. Perhaps my MIDI performance has some CC which transposes and/or fine tunes pitch.
