Hello folks! First of all @JohnnyGoodyear, I'm glad you got the issue resolved but I don't like that it was crashing like that. Contact me directly via email and we'll try to track down a crash report.
Yes, some of the UI is definitely dated, and I'll be the first to tell you that all of the UI aside from the playing surface could use a redesign. @CracklePot got it right, in that it evolved in a bit of an ad-hoc fashion from its origins on an iPhone 3G.
Maybe we should start a TJ-redesign thread where all of you can chime in with suggestions of what should be easier to access, what things you especially like in other apps, etc. That and continually bugging me about it might be just what I need to overcome inertia on this one.
And @oat_phipps, thanks for giving it a try! Be sure to grab some of the downloadable instruments from Sound->Download Samples, there is a lot to discover in there. Also, I find using TJ on the iPhone vs iPad to be pretty different experiences. Since it was originally designed for phones some of the more expressive parts of the instrument are more easily accomplished there (shake vibrato, tilt pitch bend).
