This is especially true when using quicklook to preview the samples

@Max23 Not sure how well it would fit your workflow, but you should give AudioFinder a try (free demo available to download, then $69.95 or it will begin to limit features after a while if it is not Authorized) and never miss a boom again. http://www.icedaudio.com/site/
You say quicktime, which I haven't used for years on the desktop, but where I do notice it now and it annoys the hell out of me is in the iOS files app. Try to browse your sound library in there and you'll see.
Happily AudioShare doesn't have this issue. But it would be nice if the files app worked better.

Files app doesn't even have Zip support. Are they that lazy or just completely incompetent?
I thought it was just the age of my mac, but quick look has turned into, wait ten minutes look, kills my mojo when I'm auditioning samples, on snow leopard it was instant.
I wonder what happened as they had this down, was looking forward to a new mac and getting quick look back, didn't realise it affected everyone, had a work around where I'd press the play button when mousing over an audio file, hit the space bar to stop it, then quickly hit space again, but that doesn't work for me now.

Quicktime player and Quick Look truncate audio beginning on subsequent playback

Using QuickTime Player or Quick Look to play an audio file causes the beginning attack of the audio to be truncated on subsequent playbacks.
