ZedSynth MIDI in via AUM?
Can anyone get our beloved ZedSynth working with MIDI in via AUM? I can’t get any sound and want to use it with Rozeta. Ta.

It does receive MIDI in from Quantum however! And can output through AUM. Great. We’re in business!!

If it can receive from quantum, it can also receive from Rozeta. Look in AUM’s MIDI matrix and check if there’s a secondary (virtual) midi port for ZedSynth (could be the same issue as with Elastic Drums which also won’t accept MIDI via its primary midi port).
There’s nothing in the Matrix.
But if there is no MIDI port, how can it receive MIDI from Quantum?
Maybe his sending outside AUM. ZedSynth does accept midibin OMNi mode but inside AUM it’s only showing as Generator.
But even if ZedSynth is running standalone (i.e. not loaded as IAA into AUM) you should still see its MIDI port show up in AUM’s list.

Ok, I got it working with Rozeta but only through Midiflow Adapter in AUM.
Midiflow Adapter works in AUM? Who knew? Always assumed Midiflow plugins were just for Audiobus 3.
No, it’s Midiflow Adapter but you have to load it as IAA. ZedSynth is IAA as well so you don’t really need multiple instances in this case.
I added it but couldn’t send midi to ZedSynth how do you set it up?
Quantum can send MIDI out on its own virtual MIDI port which ZedSynth listens for.
ZedSynth listens for MIDI and AUM routes but does not produce any MIDI of its own so you need hardware or an app that sends MIDI out so ZedSynth can listen to it. Apps like MidiFire or Midiflow can be used to create MIDI in/out ports for Rozeta to send to which then send out that MIDI which app like ZedSynth then listen for and respond to provided you have the correct MIDI channels selected. This is one of the reasons MIDI on iOS has been problematic to setup and why Rozeta, AU apps, and AU host apps that support AU MIDI make it so much easier.
Right.. so ZedSynth only listens to pre-existing MIDI endpoints but doesn’t expose anything of its own? That’s an... interesting design decision for a synth...
It’s not the only one and it wouldn’t have been my design choice though at least with the AUM MIDI routing grid, a MIDI bridge app, and Rozeta you can get around this flaw very easily.
Can someone post some pics how to set this up? I have Midiflow adapter for AB3.
