I have same behaviour, I have speakers connected to lightning port (my jack port is dead). However it's working fine in an AU host.

I tried it in Cubasis and (apart from the fact it crashed and broke Cubasis) I still had the cracking noise.

    What host did you use?

I have not one problem in Cubasis with VOLT

You've not a problem with it in Cubasis in general, or specifically using the lightening port as the sound out from the iPad?

Does somebody know if this is an introduction price?

    Also, how is it CPU-wise?

This is the developer's first synth app.

So, I am being patient and understanding to be honest.

The satisfaction I have enjoyed with his other apps and the beta of this tell me that this app is going to be huge regardless of how the first day or two go ......

Yeah same here. It’s got a lot of potential once the ironing out of a few issues is done. Got to admit it’s growing on me.

Thanks for clarifying this. I kind of got bummed out about the AppStore issue but I guess it’s not the Devs fault.

I guess I’ll try to support the effort but it does sound really good especially some of the pads that Doug played.

I can say I have not heard a synth app make me happy when it comes to Analog moving soundscape and shifting pad sounds with such a clean yet edgy sound.

The interface to me for an AU is ideal.

I think Layr and this are a great combo of sounds.

    Does not?

  • Here is an audio demo I did playing some pads and chords with the app.

Much more interesting than I thought it was at first. Really chewy-sounding, if that makes sense.

    Oooooooh that’s nice :)

  • Bro you were right this synhbis incredibly amazing!
I feel so bad almost not getting due to the App Store messup!

Really amazing pads! And with the onboard MPE Seabord style keys, it is so impressive!

  • Hey guys,

I'll try to answer as many of the abocve questions as possible, if I overlook yours don't hesitate to get in touch directly!

    Is it iPad only?

It is for now, the iPhone UI still needs some tweaking but it'll be added shortly.

@Cib I know the distortion is very good and very controllable too, my little Seaboard Block is great, I just try that with the Model D too

Thank´s. There are a lot things which really just shine with a proper polyphonic distortion like organic sounds similar to saxophones and wonderful distorted guitar sounds etc. Especially in combination with higher filter resonance it can be awesome.
I also love me some poly distorted pads. Did i say i love distortion? Yes, i do!! :)

Glad to see the poly drive is getting some love!

Are all features available in AUV3 (especially ARP)?

Yup, everythings there. (expect for the preset browser I should add, that one's coming later)

    @DCJ said:
Lost my first preset hitting the wrong button as well. This thing is pretty fun to program, but seeing that none of my presets show up in the AU version is frustrating. I think relying on individual host management is a PIA if you ever want to use your custom sounds anywhere other than where you created them. I just don’t feel like the user should ever have to worry about this.

    edit: *PITA :#

Hmm that's odd, presets created in the standalone version should be showing up in AU as well. What host have you been using?

    @MusicMan4Christ said:
I bought it at $7.99 went through the whole purchase process and now it wants me to buy it again at $8.99??! What up????

That's most likely just the AppStore not realizing you've already purchased the app. I suggest to check the "purchased apps" section within the App Store, if it doesn't show up there please let me know and we'll figure something out.

*** WARNING *** This thing doesn't work properly with earplugs connected connected via the lightening port (I'm using Libratone's noise cancelling earplugs) - there's lots of intrusive crackles and noise in many many of the patches. This cracking and noise does not occur if using earplugs which are connected via the jackplug.

Its not my earplugs that are at fault, they work perfectly with 50+ other apps. I had an identical problem to this with Magellan (its just not possible to use Magellan with any lightening connected earplug/earphones, they admitted on their website forum this was a fundamental lack of support within the app for that and apologized.).
I hope this is a bug in Volt that will be fixed if a future update rather than something more fundamental as it is with Magellan. I haven't tried Volt with Apple lightening earplugs, but Magellan doesn't work with Apple's.

So if you only have lightening earphones etc. purchase with caution, or monitor for future bug fixes/or support from the developer.

That's not good, obviously... I will look into, should be an easy fix.

A first update including a couple of minor bug fixes will be out in the coming days with a larger one adding iPhone support as well as a new shortly after

  • @ka010 the first time I opened the AU after programming in standalone they didn’t not show up, but after that they did! So that’s promising. But I use BM3 a lot and look very much forward to internal preset management.

I have been programming patches like crazy on this. Loving how much I’m able to do with just one oscillator. I think I’ll be using this one a ton once that gets added. Thanks for addressing all our concerns!

I’m glad to see a couple others whose opinions I respect have a similar reaction. Haven’t bought it because the videos didn’t give me the vibe that I needed it, and the aesthetic doesn’t give me hope that I’ll enjoy working in it. I’m gonna go with my gut and skip it.

His other effects have felt somewhat ‘empty’ as well. Obviously talented person, but they don’t click with me.

  • I had to come back and say killer first riffin in that video doug @thesoundtestroom . Just slayin.

    Aum and Garageband

  • Loving the look of the MPE compatibility and programming, I love being able to add expression.

Getting crashes now every time I try t save a patch in standalone and in AUM. Very frustrating. The keys also stick at times. I’m using a pro 10.5 iOS 11.2.

It crashes for me if I click on "Save" (top-left on screen), but it saves properly when I use the + button (top-right) inside a category. Hope it helps!

Yes, I figured that out after I posted. It’s very helpful to have this confirmed. Thanks! I have to say that I’m just using the “Template” category.

  • @ka010 no worries I’m loving your awesome synth! Can’t stop Playing it! And the UI is so sweet and refreshing! Top notch work!
