    yeah, sounds like you missed listening the part where you program the synth and listen to how glorious it is :) Yeah, there are some impressive presets, and many of them. but the real magic comes with how flexible this synth is. I'd say it's worth the effort (the learning curve is not as steep as it might seem at first glance).

    honest question here : What is it you're looking for in a synth?

    I could totally grant that the interface can be a bit overwhelming at first. but read the manual and give it a half hour and you'll have figured out the architecture of it. it's very well thought out and packs so much capability into such a small size that it's almost mindbending.

    imo Layr is by far the best synth on iOS for creating long evolving patches, and suitable for so many genres due to how open ended it is. I use it all the time in my sound design work (in many instances where I would have used omnisphere in the past - I love it that much). I know people get joy from great sounding presets, but the joy for me comes in programming my own sounds and this is a sound designers dream synth. If you just want something quick and easy there are many other great synths out there for you. zeeon and/or kauldron perhaps - both wonderful, well designed instruments capable of big analog-esque sounds.

    I would say if you want all your presets made for you, then you might want get a refund, because there are a ton of things about Layr that would just be wasted. Personally I love it. The presets are great, but I love making my own, I like the synth itself, and the fact that you can layr as many of them as your iPad can handle is awesome.

    Thanks, but I meant to ask about the Synthscaper Timewave presets. I can find nothing about them anywhere.

    At the end of the day, I KEPT IT, and I even earned a few bucks because the price increased a few days after ;)
    My mistake was to try on the go with a small keyboard.
    Now at home with a decent master keyboard what a difference ! I even feel ashamed I thought about a refund...
    The Brice Beasley Cinematics performances are definately great !
