OK class, today we're going to do a case study in how to totally screw up a marketing stunt...
Go to a vocal and active forum, full of users that you've ignored or burned for years while selling hardware and software that's dramatically overpriced vs. competition (as well as locking people into said hardware with unnecessary proprietary lock-in), and shout, 'we're here! We'd love to start a discussion with you so we can (presumably) start to suck less!'
Then, and this is the REALLY important part.. After you get SEVERAL pages of REALLY valid responses... Wait for it class...
Just f**king ignore EVERYONE, don't change a thing, don't acknowledge past failures, don't offer hints or direction to future improvements... Just leave those stupid bastards hanging and talking to themselves!!!

Ok ok ok. I'm still here! I just went away for a while. I'm back now. Firstly, let's clear one thing up...

Absolutely not! I know a lot of people at Propellerheads. They are all lovely, really they are, but they clearly got some inspiration from Groovebox ;-) Having said that, Figure was pioneering so...
Secondly, we at Ampify really appreciate the feedback. As usual, we'd love lots of these things too. The truth is that we've gone through a growth spurt. We started out with one product, Launchpad, that did really well. Then we added two more products that also did well. In the process we tried to rethink how to make our apps as easy to use as possible, and spent a whole ton of time 'especially' on Groovebox.
We now also have to serve 10 million users. That isn't easy. Scaling our products has cost us features for you guys. We're sorry about that. It hurts us too, because we really want the fun stuff too. However we have so many users around the world, we also need to fix their bugs too.
In terms of the the things I've noted, here is the summary from the pages in this post. I'm sure there's more but I think a summary like below for our team to assess is crucial for us right now.
As said before, we're 100% in this, and are striving to meet a balance of the needs of all our users. Having said that, we really need to give you guys some stuff soon, or we'll get a right bashing here (which is enough of a stick for us).

😯 That’s low of them. Sorry to hear that. I was really hoping you guys were working together, as Reason is my fave desktop DAW and Groovebox is my fave iOS tool. And I’d like nothing better than to see a fully-pro app built on the Groovebox paradigm...as long as it’s you guys who build it, not them. 😖

So 10 million users. The priority for Ampify is simple apps for the masses. We envelope pushing technocrats here are lucky to get whatever features we get.
Free apps with lots of optional low cost in-app-purchases is, apparently, a winning strategy. I've had fun with the Novation/Ampify apps, so no complaints here.
They appeal to the masses with cheesey edm sound packs. That's not hard to do. Novation is a very recognisable name in the industry that also plays into it.
Also most their apps are free at introduction. That also helps massively.
10,000,000 users all without proper MIDI - should be reported to the UN as a human rights violation or something.

All I know is if these three apps were more solidly unified I’d pretty much abandon everything else. Like groovebox with proper patterns and song mode, with the flexibility of having non destructive/destructed samples playing how they do in Blocs with the FX and looping in Launchpad all in one spot, it’d be a powerhouse.
