KORG Volca : Play w MIDI keyboard(usb)?

  • I have a Presonus iTwo. So far, I've used the Volca(s) with ModStep in experimental mode. It works! Now to actually record something with it.

  • That's a tough one. As you know, the Volca Keys are 5-pin DIN MIDI, and they don't have MIDI OUT or THRU. I actually purchased one of those MIDI splitter boxes from AmpTone Lab because there isn't really a great other way of sequencing more than one of them via MIDI.

I know there are products that convert USB MIDI to DIN MIDI, but they can be expensive and limited for what they do.

I think a combination of an interface and a powered USB hub, would allow you to use iOS as a go-between from your USB keyboard and the DIN MIDI output that heads to the Volca.

There are also the midiFILTr apps from Arthur Kerns that supposedly add a bit of MIDI functionality, and I think you could use them with a USB keyboard, as well.
