  • I’m more interested in budget iPad models since the release of the 2018 Pro models. If they would just release a more modern processor in an Air 2 screen spec with 256gb I would love that

  • Interesting for sure!

I kinda like the 9.7 screen-size on the Air 2 so if they decide to cut down the bezels on that one and keep the prize at reasonable levels I may consider upgrading my Air 2.

  • Do they have a headphone jack? :p

If they plan to keep the iPads popular in education they better leave the 3.5mm jack in place and keep the number of dongles to a minimum :)

Maybe i get a cheap one just for NS2 then :)

    EXCELLENT question.

  • I’ll be in the running for the bigger one, this Air 2 won’t last forever and I can’t really afford the new pros. Be interesting to see what the specs are.

  • Ffs they better have a headphone jack otherwise I'm done with iOS :/

  • Cool! I’ll instabuy an iPad mini5!! 👌😍💕

  • If the iPad Mini 5 is Pencil 1 or 2 compatible, it's an instabuy for me.

  • If they’re doing a new design then the headphone jack is gone and they’re going USB C

  • The 2018 budget iPad is quite a bargain already - amazon currently has it on sale for $350 for 128gb model, $270 for 32gb — a good $60 less than I paid for my daughter’s 128gb earlier this year. It’s not quite as fast as my 2017 Pro, but close enough that I couldn’t tell a difference with average use. noticably faster than my air 2.

I just got a 2018 ipad for that price yesterday at microcenter along with the pencil, replaced my 5 year old air (my wife took that one and I took her ipad 3 to use strictly as a live sound ipad to control mixers), definitely a good buy. I didn't think I'd buy a new iPad, but we just paid off all of our non-mortgage debt and she mentioned that her ipad 3 was becoming unuseable (she's a speech therapist). So I kindly volunteered to upgrade so she could have the air....

The pencil is amazing with goodnotes, I was using an adonit bluetooth stylus before but the pencil definitely is better.

  • ooh mini5 - i deeply wisth this is true... and hope with A12x cpu !!!!

Guess they probably will put in a A11, no headphone jack, mono speakers and with USB-C and an LCD of the quality of Mini 2. It's aimed at budget market.

    iPad mini 7.9", 9.7”, 10”, 10.5”, 11” and 12.9”

The 9.7 and 10.5 would likely be phased out eventually

  • Dang, just bought the 2018. I will wait until 2020 probably, to upgrade again.

  • That’s good to hear! Alchemy back on the iPad! 😄

If all smaller iPads are going to be wide-screen eventually, not sure about the fate of 12.9" form factor - they may have to change its size again to make it wider for consistency with other sizes
