    I absolutely loved collaborating with it and it felt like the future to me in many ways. I primarily stopped though because extracting the stems from the zip they all have the same name and are in AIFF so right there from a file management point of view (renaming/converting etc) it is more effort than it is worth right now.

    I think the most viable model is probably IAP sample packs (a la Beathawk). If you allow users to upload samples--I'm thinking like the cloud kits in Patterning--you undercut the sample pack IAP biz model. Then you have to jack the app price up (retarding casual user sales) or go subscription.

    I'll invest in this app and ecosystem if it allows me to make the music I hear in my head (and allows others to take it in different directions) but it can't be as one dimensional as it is now. Watching the Beathawk sample pack sale thread leads me to believe that the sample pack IAP route is viable if the quality is good.

    so it would seem that the devs have gotten some good info out of this, the app is great for people who love to collab , love subscription services, and don't want to use their own samples... and not so great for people who love to collab, hate subscription services, and love to use their own samples...

    and everybody would like better file management.

    sounds like they have the potential to have two great apps people are willing to pay for on their hands!

    There have been a lot of attempts at online collaboration over the last few decades. This is the first one that has managed it successfully imho

    The purpose of this app is to encourage the flow state and bring people together. Listen to the podcast Tim did with Jamie Lidell for more on that topic.

    Can’t wait to see what the future brings!!

    PS there’s desktop platforms that will already do what people are asking. Sample import, project sharing etc Think they all follow the subscription model though 🤣

    I'm in the latter, a musical playground and not being able to use my own sounds ?
    Takes all the creative voodoo out. This itself is like creative handcuffs / prison.
    Then I am expected to pay for the privilege....
    Sounds like the perfect creative nightmare.

    I can already collab with anyone around the globe with stems and dropbox - and use any sound I can imagine :)

    I view it more like arriving at friend’s house or a pub with a jam session going on: you grab whatever instrument is to hand - a guitar with a string missing or a cajón or the pots and pans - and you have fun. It’s not really about using the best equipment and getting everything into a DAW. I can understand the hesitation about paying a subscription though...

    Been playing with the beta too, it's pretty cool. I haven't tried it yet but if you have an audiocard, you can probably use your daw and send stuff synced in using ableton link or just record a vsti inside it. I have an iconnectivity so probably lots of options there.
