PSA: Don't update to iOS 12.4 if you use apps in AB output slot or IAA apps that use the mic.

That method works for me when using BM3 with AUM on my iPad Air 2, iOS12.4.
I always take the 'safe route' no matter what IAA apps are involved.
@Samu
Definitely works for me.
Making the adjustments as I go along.
If all fails with BM3 into Auria Pro through AUM then either
I'm going to roll back iOS or sync BM3 with Auria for writing
and when it's time to record audio export out the stems into
Auria Pro which is what I've been partially aiming for anyway.
Once again thanks for your diligence.
Most probably before they totally deprecate the (IAA) SDK's
I'll keep an iPad on the older iOS and get a new iPad for future recordings
which suits my workflow long term.
One machine dedicated to creating sounds,
the other for heavy recording and warp editing.
Okay, I've got BM3 through into Auria Pro again.
BM3 first
AUM next (making sure the buffer size is the same)
in AUM open up audio port out
Run Auria Pro and then open up AUM port into channel.
It works, going to make sure that it works every time.
It works almost every time.
Bluetooth has now changed it's way of functioning.
Once again connected to the buffer size.
BM3 wasn't playing via Bluetooth until I changed the buffer size
from 512 to 256 samples and back again.
As far as I know no app plays thru Bluetooth if/when measurement mode is enabled.
It's the High-Quality (Measurement Mode) setting in BM3 setitngs Audio & Mididevices.
@Samu
That I do know.
Apologies it was my phrasing.
The audio output wasn't going through Bluetooth until the buffer settings
were reset and that was without measurement mode enabled.
I immediately tested the output via my audio interface,
the internal speakers and my Bluetooth headphones, which
I use as a grot box, when I realised that the update had happened.
And.....despite auto update being switched off for software updates and the 12.4 updater deleted, my mini 5 has been raided by Apple overnight and been updated .
Impossible????
@Korakios
No.
The same thing happened to me.
Hence my annoyance.
No way
I mean I do believe you ,but never happened to me . I always keep my iOS devices on a “tested” version and now I am worried since I have many IAA apps
@Korakios
Exactly what I was doing.
I haven't gone through all of the IAA apps yet,
I most probably will do that this week.
My major apps are still working so that's cool for now.
Auria Pro has been having major problems with IAA anyway
so without a bug fix I've been using AUM as the main host
for all of my efx apps and synths instead
of using the internal efx slots in Auria Pro.
Still, the most important thing at the moment
is that the mixes still sound the same.
I'll make the decision over the next couple of days whether
I shall revert it back to 12.3.1 or learn the foibles of 12.4.1.
Apple breaking things is annoying because it interrupts
the flow of us Artists.
Okay,
Audiobus 2 is up and running again.
All of the problems I've been experience so far with this
update have been to do with sample rate, buffer size and
the order in which the apps are to be run.
I've tested running BM3 first then loading it into Audiobus 2
then opening Audiobus in AUM.
Sounding okay so far.
How stable this will be is another matter.
Anyone who’s tried to downgrade back to 12.3.1, do let us know how you go. That door is going to close any moment so it’ll be good to know if it still working or not...
I use iPad Pro 6.9, Bias Fx, Jam Up Pro and Quantiloop. All of them need to be taped to initiate from the beginning. Downgrade to 12.3.1 was denied from Apple. Hope for recent IOS firmware update.
With iPadOS and iOS13 coming very soon, not sure that we’ll see 12.4.1 fixing our issues...
BTW, for those who have switched back to 12.3.1 (am I the only one?), you’ll be notified sooner or later that iCloud device backup wasn’t possible as iCloud file has more recent iOS version (12.4). I had to delete the backup and make it again with downgraded 12.3.1. Photos and GarageBand iCloud backups are independent, so no worry about that.
Hello,
I believe this may have to do with the iOS 12.4 issue with apps that use the mic, but Amplitube is no longer producing any sound when used as an effect in Audiobus/AUM. What’s interesting is that in the Settings view, when I look at the level monitor and play something using Audioshare or the AUM file player, the leds are lighting up about 65% of the way. There is still no sound even with Amplitube in the foreground (Amplitube is on screen).
@ikmultimedia @Michael
The good news is Apple are on the case with this bug. I expect to see a resolution soon.
Go Michael Go! Bless you sir!
Yes thank you so much!
Nice one.
Why every year of ios upgrades is like giving birth? Not that I've ever had the 'pleasure'
Sorry, trying to lighten up the mood.
It's probably my fault, not catching the bugs in beta 😊
Or mine for being a shit tester. Let’s go 50/50 shall we?
Can’t wait for Loopy 3 or pro or just loopy AU beta.
Deal 😊 Yeah me too!
Thanks for the update @Michael I wanna update but holding off because of this issue....
Hello guys,
Any update on the fix for ios 12.4??? Still cannot use Garageband on Audiobus output....
No actual fix yet but I'm assured a fix is on its way.
@Michael
Thanks > @Michael said:
I hope too.
Thanks for the quick response!
I guess Apple will push out iOS12.4.1 sooner rather than later since they left a jailbreak hole wide open in iOS12.4 which was patched in iOS12.3.1 and iOS13 betas...
