Getting Better: Techniques

So I went and did a vid or a micro jam yesterday.

Meanwhile lately, I have felt, I don't know.....like something needed tweaking.

Well, unlike audio recordings, the video gave me some REAL insight for some reason on my sound and approach!

I am not sure why.

I think back to sports in high school and college where you study films after the game.

But anyway, I just wanted to share my little a ha moment I had yesterday in case you were looking for a method to break a creative log jam or technical snafu.

Film yourself and watch it. As an unbiased audience member, not the creator.

I got insight on things not related to even what I was seeing. Brain is an amazing thing.

Cheers.

Great advice. I had the experience years ago, whilst playing guitar live on stage, and people used to say I looked like I wasn't enjoying it. I was, massively, and couldn't understand why they thought that...until I watched a video of us on stage...I was indeed (and still am) a miserable looking bugger !!

  • If Uno Woo film self, very boring for long time. :) Never know when right thing will happen. Sometimes try hard and nothing. Other times, happy accident shows way.

  • @RUST( i )K I saw some of your video but didn’t get a chance to comment. I enjoyed it and thought you did a really good job. I tried recording a jam video over the weekend and didn’t get past the first bar :D Couldn’t get the f**king loop right :'(

  • I missed the video, was it taken down?

So true that watching a recording of your own live jam can be very eye-opening. Good advice :)

    This is poetic.
