My Top 5 Sampler and Looper Apps for iOS | haQ attaQ
Here are my top 5 Sampler and Looper apps for iPhone and iPad! They can all sample and loop stuff and some even have a sequencer. All of these apps are also unique in some way, shape or form and differ quite a lot form one another. And thats important, as I did not just want to list 5 similar apps.
Now some of these apps are veterans, in app years, as the oldest one was released back in 2011, while the newest one was released this year (2019). So join me as I'll be diving into what it actually is that makes these samplers and loopers so special.

Uno still singing “This is my IOS sound.” Swedish reggae.
Also ‘honourable mention’ for Group the Loop, ReSlice and LooperVerse.
Happy you liked the tune!
Catchy, gets in head.
BTW, sad that Samplr dev find no time in 4 years to update king of sampling apps. Makes no sense.
The rumour is, he was offered a job at Apple so unable to work further on Samplr. That's the rumour. Other members should know more.
Also WerkBench as a honourable mention? I heard 4Pockets maybe working on something along the lines of a sampler player so watch this space.
So he have no spare time, in 4 years. Man must work finger to bone!
hihi
Wow, I just saw this tweet from Samplr 😊🙏
This is all well and good but you really should have mentioned Samplr.
Kidding aside, Samplr is still the closest runner-up to the V-Synth GT in terms of capability and performance integration. Reason enough to lock an IPad just for Samplr.
Honourable mention should have been WerkBench. That is one powerful little devil.
Who knows, maybe it's Samplr integrated into GarageBand
Noob to production but I noticed you can map koala to nanokey pads ( if you didnt know ) by luck I noticed sample triggering after mapping to elastic drums. You can either use elastic drum numbers and then set them in korg editor as notes or if im correct, just choose a root note in koala to correspond with korg editor and nanokey.
What about remix live with new sequencer. Might be similar to launchpad and blocswave. A subtractive seqeuncer maybe.
I could just use koala multiple sequencers to change sequences. Might buy loopy. Upgrade blocswave ( if thats the one with timestretching ) What about fieldscaper? Can this offer more to change a sound to be worth buying?
When GTL 2.0 hits the store then it could be a second part since it will be universal
Great Vid btw @jakoB_haQ !!
You made me spit out my coffe with that first sentence!
If Marcos by Apple rules, cannot introduce new features to the app he can technically make it an audio unit since IAA is dead on its face. And if he sneaks in some midi control or at least the ability to midi record more actions I certainly wouldn’t object.
It might not be too clear but I Put that info about MIDI notes in the feature spash screen (20:03). I should have mentioned it verbally too.
Yeah I saw that and reacted
Samplr is coming integrated in GarageBand when iOS 13 drops.
Kidding, would be “epic” if it goes AU though.
Lots of companies have employment clauses that say even work that you do outside of work hours, if in the same line as your job, is the property of the company. Others (and I'm pretty sure I remember reading that Apple does this) forbid it outright. It could have nothing to do with available time and everything to do with fear of Apple's HR and/or ridiculously well funded legal team. Apple has arguably the most draconian approach to trade secret protection of any company there is.
Not wanting to risk a six-figure per year paycheck for a $6 per week app kinda makes sense to me.
There’s a whole lot of features that would would be cool if they where added. But yeah, just making it “safe for the future” by going over to AUv3, is good enough for me.
If true, yes.
Alternate, Apple smart enough to look at genius app and buy for Garage Band.
This is my iOS sound is very catchy. Also I liked the video a lot. Yellowfier looks really cool
WTF?!!!!!???!!
Actually, that is what Apple did with Alchemy and the process was very different. The developers disappeared, and the app disappeared too (before it appeared inside GarageBand.)
If that is what Apple planned for Samplr, I think that Samplr would have disappeared from the AppStore back when they hired the Samplr dev.
You did Mr Haq. Thanks for the videos anyway.
The iOS music community thanks the dev who created Samplr.
The iOS music community would thank them even more if someone else could take it over to keep it afloat before it disappears into the twilight.
Jakob - why do you have "commercial breaks" in your videos?
Are you looking for real paid ads from developers or just a joke?
This is one of @jakoB_haQ’s most useful videos. Really lots of valuable info. I love the “strengths and weaknesses “ parts... It makes me wonder though, isn’t it just easier the work with say Sudio One or Bitwig where the sampler can do pretty much most of this stuff instead of the ol’ iOS hokey-pokey (this one’s for this.. This one’s for that” approach? ..
Yellofier is really cool. It don't believe I have ever used it in a finished track, but I have spent many hours with it. None of them wasted, all of them enjoyable.
