It sounds stable in NS2. At least I assume so if @dendy uses it?

Never had any issue with iSEM in NS but @klownshed had permanent crashes (in NS) after PadOS update - deleting and reinstalling iSEM solved that issue.

Haven't much time for more serious production last few weeks though, just lot of testing various stuff, so i cannot say at 100% there aren't any iSEM issues on PadOS.

Still, for me this has been always one of most stable and reliable plugin (just with small exception of a bit longer time to start on Air 1)

  • BM3's beta team I see bug hunting. If you all report these bugs over on the Intua forum, they might get addressed!

BeatMaker 3 is Becoming more and more famous.can other IOS DAWs keep up?

For those of you who prefer data, it's true that BM3 is incredibly popular. BeatMaker 3 is the best-selling paid iOS DAW of the past year. Cubasis is a close second.

As I type this, BM3 is still biggest selling DAW and #2 music app overall in the USA. It's a force of nature. Though, not sure how long it will stay on top now that Mathieu Garcia has moved on. He's a genius.

It doesn't hurt that recent hits like this Gold Record last month were recorded with BeatMaker 3 ...

For those that follow iOS Producers, there's even a video of the guitar and bass of this song being recorded into the iPad.

SCIENCE! Thanks Homee. Now lets all log off and play with BM3 today.

  • @SlowwFloww maybe that’s the difference. I don’t do much choppage of samples. I sample things, do some basic editing and move on. I’m pretty much in the synths most of the time when I’m writing tunes. And finger drumming I’m just making kits so I’m scrolling through my maschine library I pulled over.

I have sampled stuff from streemer and edited it and yeah I’ve crashed it along the way, but I do save often. Also, I save several versions of anything I write. Not because of crashes, but in case I want to rollback because I didn’t like where it was headed

But you do raise a good point. I won’t discount your pain points. I’ve said in other threads that workflow is human dependent and if It’s ruining your life then I would definitely not use it. Crashes don’t bother me too much in any software. I’m easy  I’m not trying to make money or please a client or whatever. If I was doing that I would definitely be writing on my desktop. But for what it is, at this stage in the game, iOS has its nitch for me: fun!

Thank you for going through the effort to make the vids BTW. I’m sure ya beta boooooiiiieeeees (good band name) on the forum will run with it whilst they are testing.

regarding iSEM...i just updated my ipad to 13 (13.1.1. to be precise) and had a weird behavior with it in Auria as well. Not a crash but CPU went through the roof after i opened a pre 13 project and identified iSem as guilty.Had to reload the plugin to get rid of the high cpu load

Too bad,as others pointed out:iSEM was always an AU showcase, never had trouble but the Dev (Tempo Rubato) is pretty much out of iOS business..

Audio chopping is super stable now for me... once I learned that anything over 64 slices is the danger zone. Now In a five hour session I may get one or two crashes and it seems mostly related to the lower budget nichey AUfx when the CPU is cooking.

I crash more at work in an eight hour day now using Maya than I do in eight hours on the weekend using BM3 so yah I am not too phased by crashes.

Yeah I still get that. If I reopen an NS2 project containing an iSEM instance the project won’t play (it seems to be playing but there’s no sound) and the CPU is at 100%

Closing and reloading seams to fix this. At least temporarily. I think this issue caused my further iSEM issues, which resulted in iSEM crashing on launch and failing to load at all.

That required deleting and reinstalling iSEM to fix.

Once it started crashing on load, it wouldn’t load in any host until I re-installed it.

:D :D :D This guys said “ I doubt it played any considerable part in any serious production.“ :D :D
    You have no idea!!!!!

A BM3 update is coming soon. That’s all I’m gonna say.

Of course that’s all you’re gonna say, because there’s not a single example of a serious production in Beatmaker you could show. Prove me wrong. :p
It’s too unstable, which is sad, because the interface is great, built in fx and sampler are Ok, and it needs only a few features added to become the 1st proper DAW for iOS, but I’m afraid its whole internal structure should be rewritten for that.

We’re all still waiting on a serious production from you on any platform.

Don’t judge lest he be judged

Any music cranked out from the buyer of any software is between the buyer, the software, and his creativity. Are we to judge what is good or bad or serious out of that? That isn’t a barometer. People crank out what I would consider terrible music all the time with thousands of dollars worth of hardware and software.

    So what?

    That’s completely up to them.

But, since you want to judge others and say nothing they do is serious enough for you... let’s hear what you’ve got @vow. The time for criticism is over. It’s time you showed us what you are capable of. Let’s hear what serious music you are capable of on any platform. I’m willing to bet you’re all complaint and no substance.

As you said above... Prove me wrong

What is this, the school playground ?
Nobody needs to provide any proof of their productions to have an opinion, even if they are a troll.

“I come correct in full effect have all my trolls in check”

Thanks for your input Bram always can count on you.

You are correct Mathieu is great guy and a genius, love that guy but I’m sure he’s got something up his sleeves and can’t wait to see what it is. Will definitely support.

I believe Vincent deserves a chance to prove himself also. He’s been very active during the beta which is great. We’ll see how people feel about this update. So far I’m good with the direction of BM3 and the future plans.

As mentioned above, we have a nice beta group and some of these guys don’t sleep. A lot of issues have been addressed and some will take a little longer to get resolved.

It’s at the bottom of the pile f0r me, as it stands. The features are brilliant but it crashes so much it’s not really usable for me. In addition, it doesn’t show chords in the piano roll, which is really weird. It definitely has some great features and I’m more than open to using it again. Not yet, though. Not until it’s stable, at the very least.

Funny you mention the crashing I programmed my finger to hit the save button after every track I record didnt even realize why I was doing it so much because it only crashed on me once or twice and it was when using one of my older ipads Never happens on my ipad pro 12.9 but yet i still always hit the save button with anything new

  • Just a comment, feel free to ignore, I've had wine and sitting in the corner rambling on deep things:

Me having been away from music making for a couple of months, and coming back to it with "fresher eyes", I have been amazed at the "known" bugs we expect from pretty much all of the apps, especially DAWs. Some of them ring bells in "yeah, I knew that..." whereas others truly are "really? what? why?". Nevertheless, I love my iOS music making, pretty much because of the limitations it forces upon me.

  • The same crap is RAMPANT in You Tube gaming vids. They all talk/yell a mile a minute, and do ZERO preparation- just yakking off the top of their head. Like anything, there are a few good one, but I think most are just to show how cool they are at the game.

Good tutorials of most anything are a scarce commodity.

If you dont know the types of videos I mean, you have serious issues, they have very little content, spend the first five minutes of the video yelling their name and explaining why they are making the video etc, then thirty seconds showing you (yes showing you, as in more hand movement than actual content) how to do something that ten other “its ya boyeeeee” vloggers already tried to show you (with their hands) it has zero, absolutely zero to do with genre, I know plenty of Hip Hop producers (including myself) who hate these types of no talent hacks trying to become an ‘influencer’ of some kind.
The hilarious thing is how much these idiots spend on Blackmagic gear etc, just to all look and edit the exact same generic click baity way.

  • Holy smoke @philowerx that sounds so huge for such few instruments. Panning is perfect as is sound choice. What a nice tune.

  • Regarding sampling in general...

Just last week I went to one of the local music shops and to check out the MPC Live and you know what...

The first question the sales person ask was if I was a 'Rapper' and I just went, WTF I'm very far from it I'm a techno/synth person looking for a sampler and the sales person just reply, then it's better to use software like WTF seriously?!

It's like a certain genre of music has ruined the reputation of hardware samplers for good...

He’s not a real salesman. Any good salesman will care more about the sale then what genre of music you make. A rapper is not going to buy an MPC live unless he’s also into making beats. That was stupid of him. No matter what store I walk in here in NY that sales music gear I get them to sell me whatever they can.
