What if:
BM3 had Obsidian as native.
We won't know anything till the release drops. I don't think it would be wise to release it prematurely. By their nature development releases will have new bugs until they get shaken out.
I just dump the audio loops into Cubasis but there I bump to another issue and that has more to do with file-management and not being able to access the 'session folder' in the media bay. Technically each project is already a folder (can be seen in Files.app) but it can not be directly accessed in the media bay and all files imported have go thru the media bay, no dropping files from Files.app to the time line arghhh...
I've lately starting to look at GarageBand again with it's easy way to create sampler instruments from audio recordings (just drag any audio to the track with the sampler even directly from Files.app) and well, it's pretty stable too
Can't stand the sampler in NS2 with its mandatory save before use and senile save dialogues that forget where the last sample was saved, need to do an 'export' in order to re-sample etc. etc. etc. (Other aspects are fine but when sampling is a priority it just doesn't work for me).
Oh well, in due time we'll get updates to our beloved apps and I would not be surprised if it's meh updates...
My ideal timeline would be
In the meantime I went on MPC Software (PC) ,although am not thrilled . (but was cheap enough to buy it)
And with the phase current things are currently going the release date would be sometime in 2025 or so...
What Akai could do to salvage their brand-identity on iOS would be to take back development in-house and release the MPC software for iOS/iPadOS, now that could probably shake a few heads here and there
Not with the current phase of development! If things where right , the AU sampler would be already completed ....
As long Akai sells the MPC Live ,it wont let that happen . And Retronyms can't even handle it even if Akai wanted
We'd still need a capable host for it that could easily route audio & midi for automation, sequencing and sampling
The real strength of the BM3 sampler lies in the integration with the rest of the app.
Would the AUv3 contain a 'Bank' or just a 'Pad', would we be 'happy' with loosing the option to apply AUv3 effects to individual pads and the bank?
Also the current BM3 sampler is NOT suited for realtime manipulation of sample start and loop parameters, it's more geared towards slicing, layers and splits.(So no routing of velocity to sample-start etc.).
Personally for me an AUv3 sampler should be more like Ableton Simpler, Serato Sample or even Cubase Sampler Track.
But ultimately it's up to Intua to decide what to do and with the ever growing list of issues it will take time...
A pad or bank with all realtime manipulation (step " Add (bugfree) features of suggested workflow enhancements ") , build-in effects (which are many on BM3 app) could come later until hosts provide multiple outputs per AU
But it's all speculations ,personal suggestions and we'll see.
For now lets see if this bugfix update will be stable
terrific mood @philowerx
Just goes to show that BM3 is adaptable to many genres.
(Also: I think you could really go somewhere new around 4:15! I don’t think this track is done, man!)
+1
And what if NS2 slate had note repeat and chromatic pad playability like Bm3. All would be right in the world.
I like BM3, a lot, but obsidian is something special.
I just made a “ it’s yaa boooeeyyyy ” type beat In Cubasis 🤣🤣🤣

If you want your drums to punch real hard, Fac Bandit is your best friend 👌🏾🔥
Yeah Booooyyyeeee! (With Big Flavor Flav voice) FAC Transient is also pretty good for adding punch

Man I wish Cubasis had an option to list 'Project Audio Files' in the Media Browser. it would make handling audio clips so much easier
Yeah that would be awesome.
Hope they also implement the feature to edit Audio on Timeline and it reflects in the Audio editor for now if you trim an audio and open the editor, you get the previous length arrrg.
One thing that would be really helpful is if we could view Effects and Keyboard at the same time.if you are doing some sound design you need to constantly open the effect, make changes launched keyboard test the sound, open effect... that’s too long. @LFS
Yepp, It's totally annoying when the region edits made on the timeline are not reflected in the actual wave editor.
A user over at the Cubasis forum asked if Cubasis 3.0 would get higher PPQ and got a mysteriously short YES from Lars...
So who knows maybe we'll get a major update soonish or something.
It kinda makes me wonder what will drop first Cubasis 3.0 or the BM3 update
Another classic Machine IAP for Cubasis 🤣🤣🤣
I think we might see the undo or redo function not stopping Audio when taped.
At this point with IPadOs I think we might see a different Media Bay
Real send tracks not in this update.
Maybe Audio Wrap.
But in all honesty, I think added features are going to be minimum, the update might be more about what’s already in Cubasis amped up.
For BM3 I wouldn’t know ☺️
Some sketches made in BM3
Some cool tracks there, @AudioGus!
@AudioGus VERY interesting music !!
I finally decided after way to much spend on DAWs or DAW-like or DAW-lite apps (Cubasis, Xequence, BMS, NS2) that I'm being stupid. I'm looking at my ipad in the wrong way. I have all of these super powerful and fantastic synth apps and effects now and I'm sitting on great actual stable DAWs on my computer.
I've now decided (at least for the foreseeable future) that I'm not spending any more time trying to make the iPad into what it's not (for me). It is a hardware synth(s) and I will just use it that way. Anything that I'm working on will eventually be sent to my computer for any 'finalization' should I decide it warrants it. I've wasted enough time and energy.
That being said, I will still use Gadget as it is what it is and it's stable and marvelous. This thread helped to crystallize in my mind what I've been thinking for awhile now so, thanks ya'll.
Nice vibe🔥👌
I just love listening to people’s music from here. This is an example of stuff that I would never come up with creatively. Chord structures, melody lines, sound choices, everything. It’s refreshing and very cool to put an avatar to the music they are interested in creating. Such a cool, laid back quirkiness about it. That fast LFO on the lead and sitar-y and muted trumpet-you sounds fit nicely. Great stereo work with the panning.
Nice work!
Really cool.
We need some wiki pages with links to tunes and the apps used to create them.
Aww, thanks gang, glad you like the tunes.
Super fun tracks @AudioGus !
Nice work! 👍🏻😁
Were these recorded entirely in BM3?
Thanks Philowerx!
Pretty much all the sequencing, recording, mixing (90+%) is done in BM3. One of the tracks used my Circuit so there was a bit of groovebox sequencing. The sounds come from a variety of sampled IAA synths, sequenced AUs, some vinyl, and a couple vsts (Omnisphere/Stutter Edit) and I do have a mini Kaoss pad that I have used to make sample fodder. But yah BM3 is always the main daw now where everything lives so I can work on them anytime/anywhere.
