Best all round preset synth
Hi everyone,
I've got a bit of cash to spend, but I want to get the best bang for my bucks, so I'd like some suggestions. I'm looking for a great sounding synth synth with lots of usuable presets (as I'm no sound designer).
I've already got the following synths:
Obsidian (NS2)
Sunrizer
FM Player
Synth One
DRC
I'm looking at PPG Infinite, but any other suggestions?

Tera Synth and Addictive Pro from Virsyn have tons of presets.

Factory
There are thousands of presets available for DX7 on the internet and KQ Dixie can load them.
Synthmaster includes loads of presets.
Sunrizer is excellent with quite a few presets, it’s an amazing synth overall
Poison 202 still remains as one of my most used AUv3's.
Factory is my favorite at the moment (a quite long moment...)

It totally depends on what kind of sounds you are looking for.
KQ Dixie for FM with no doubt. As somebody mentioned above it loads most of the DX7 patches from the internet.
Poison if you wanna have some digital EDM stuff. Imho this one has the best factory patchbank for that kind of sounds. Jim nailed them all. Load the synth and there you go. Instant Techno/House/DnB/insert style here feeling.
I don't own audiokit D1 (yeah...shame on me) but what I have heard on youtube and elsewhere sounds stellar. Very unique sound (mostly 80s to my ears).
Soundmaster One and his little brother Player do a fantastic job for everything. Lots of patches have been programmed by some big names from the sounddesign community.
Zeeon is one of my favourite vintage sounding synths but you already have DRC so I am not sure if you need both of them right now. But sooner or later you should grab it because it sounds uber fantastic.
SugarBytes synths come with a lot of patches...some great and some not so great. I would recommend them more to a sounddesigner except Aparillo wich is pretty cool and unique when you need some atmo or soundscapes.
Cyclop.....without question.
Excellent choice. I wonder why this beast doesn’t get more love? Is it because it is seen (mistakenly) as a Skrillex machine?

Because it is a pita to program sounds on it on a 9.7“ Tablet. All those tiny knobs, the matrix with those tiny amount controls, the rotarys for the signal flow etc ... don’t get me wrong , I really dig the sound with all the aliasing and possibilities for a mono synth but it is an absolutely nightmare to program some sounds from scratch with it. And I already have tried it with an Apple Pencil. It works, but...heck, I don’t get the hang with it.
And I am more into sound design than a power preset user. And btw most of the sounds I tried sound like Skrillex or some of his fan boys...
Fair enough. We haven’t had one of these challenges for a while. By Halloween I’ll have 25 non-Skrillex sounds for Cyclop.
I’m looking forward to it.
Great bass synth though.
Factory has to be the synth with the most wide range and sheer number of presets I’ve been impressed with.
Zeeon is still my personal favorite.

Alchemy Pro, not the GarageBand version. I’m not a preset person but these ones sound amazing.
Still get teased by the purchase button on the packs I didn’t get around to buying.
Dreaming of the day when Camel Audio buys Apple so we can all get access to these sounds again.
Whoever programmed the sounds for iProphet had a good ear.
Not VA synths, but for 90’s workstation sounds I like iM1 and iWavestation. FM player has great FM sounds, as does FM4.
I got rid of cyclops, despite the truly fascinating architecture, and tag based preset library system, because I couldn’t find a sound I liked that wasn’t easy to get with other, less specialized synths. Everything was too aggro. Confused too, why someone would make a software monosynth.
