    Awesome! Nothing like analogue saturation/distortion! It one of the few things digital doesn’t do well IMO.

    it depends. Sure.. way too much for a 2in/2out audio interface. But if you like the analog effects/flavour, over here you can find the used for around 450...

    Cripes! I could get a whole 1010 Black Box and a sweet overdrive pedal for that much. Or buy a smokin good tube amp and still have enough left over to upgrade the pickups on my Strat. :D

    Or you could be savvy and wait until Black Friday and look on Bax Music in Amsterdam who were selling the MK2 HEAT last year fro £420! Don't get me wrong... its still pricey. I was tempted to buy one and sell my MK1 (which I had on pre order when first released for full RRP and 3 months wait after initial ETA). It was my first Elektron box and it has been a massive gateway drug.
    Now its class compliant, fun times ahead.
    Be warned tho, the HEAT really lives up to its name and get roasting on long sessions. Let it breath...dont cover those vents on the back by mistake!
    The clean boost setting is pretty much a "Make it sound better knob"
    If you are not too bothered about a sound card and just want that effect plus a load of other distortions, the Analog Drive pedal had a price drop at Thommann and I picked up one for £80. The clean boost sounds pretty similar to the heat...

    There are quite a few pretty cheap on Reverb.com.

    But still: That's an awful lot of money for a distortion pedal, even used. And yet, like the OP1, it isn't overpriced if you love to use it.
