I thinke we have to accept the Matt deserves an income from his great work, hence the iPhone version first. But NS2 is so close to being totally complete, as you say, and so I’m looking forward to new features in the next update. Hopefully, that won’t take forever.
I am just grateful for his work and for the serious addition to our options NS2 has brought. And yes, income, to keep the man fed and the ball rolling forward.
You are remembering something that was said in the first few days after NS2 came out and then repeated on forums even though the timeline changed as soon as the scope of AU related issues started to become clear in January. The closest Matt came to promising a specific release time after that was when he said the Universal update should be out this year.
I don’t think there will be a public timeline from Matt anymore, these updates will land when they are ready. It’s frustrating to wait, I know, it’s frustrating for me too – the beta team could see that the iPhone release was super near but we couldn’t tell anyone, even when we could see people really desperately wanted it to be released! But at least when it’s released, it should be polished and ready and not a buggy mess. The last two builds of this update really took the UI to another level.
Matt spends a lot of time developing and streamlining the UI. I think it’s time well spent as Nanostudio is known for its UI, but it is a lot of time all the same.
Great update from Matt and his near team of testers and contributers!
But, one thing I noticed today: No sound out from Audiokit Digital D1 in Nanostudio 2.1 as an AUv3?
Have I missed this - is it an old “bug” or is this a new problem occurring in v2.1?
Cheers for this!
I have the same issue here unfortunately, like the new NS2 was a different app.
I also don't get the message that I already bought it.
Is purchasing and asking for a refund really the way it's meant to work?
+1
The App Store search is awful but then I’m probably spoilt by google seeming to know what I want regardless of how I spell it 😊
Also, just google it and click the link, which will then open in the app store
Patience is a virtue. I know audio tracks is going to be killer but having this on an iPhone is amazing. Matt and the beta team are a handful of individuals working on ns2 and to get this right takes time because they run a tight ship and don’t release buggy shite. Blip Interactive doesn’t have the resources of a company like Steinberg, Ableton, Reason Studios, etc. but they are steadily completing this massive project. They have been killing it. Thanks guys.
And yes it is frustrating because the initial release like Native Instruments Massive X was so close but not ‘there’, but in both cases good things have been coming in the updates. And it’s frustrating because you could see the potential because what was released was so good. Enjoy half of the donut because the other half is going to be even better.

Ok ok ok. Gonna eat my words. NanoStudio2 on iPhone has changed my mind. It’s a joyous beauty to use on the iPhone. I may not compose full tracks on the iPhone but it’s the perfect place to start creating patches for Obsidian.
Great work blip interactive 🙏🏼💕👊🏼™️
Have faith and click purchase. I didn’t get the message on my iPhone that I already purchased it once I clicked submit but didn’t get charged either. When I updated my second device (iPod touch) the message popped up immediately.
I only called Apple to clarify what was going on and they didn’t need to refund me.
@jipumarino Thank you for the link to the manual. A tempo track is a plus
As mentioned above, it will look for all the world like you’re purchasing it, even to the point to agreeing to pay for it again. At the very ... last ... moment it’ll tell you (like you’re some kind of dummy for trying to pay for it again) that you already bought it, and asking (yep, seriously asking) if you want to get it for free.
Truly bizarre design. Apple are out of their minds between this and the utterly amazingly bad search engine. I still can’t pull it up by name search. It’s still not in my purchased items on the phone, though it’s installed, and even searching by “Blip Interactive” only finds it 3 out of 4 times.
Maybe this is Apple’s way of “encouraging” developers to pay to promote their apps.
Hmmm... Solved it by myself...
You have to enable the background audio setting in the stand alone app first to have BGA in AUv3 mode...
Just a note to anyone disappointed with the slow pace of development.
The developer has mentioned in a post on their forum that regretfully NS2 doesn’t generate enough income to allow him to work on it more than half-time. I don’t know about you, but I can sympathize with having to bow to the need to put food on the table over what I’d rather be doing.
A lot of people complained bitterly over the iPhone version being prioritized over audio tracks. Even though audio tracks are more important to me, IMO this was the right call as it has higher potential to bring in more income sooner.
Here’s hoping that the beautiful and totally worth the wait iPhone version generates enough income to allow full-time development.
Anything public regarding AppStore charts and stuff ?! In Germany he hasn’t reached the first 100 places in music category unfortunately
I don't need NS2; honestly don't really want another DAW like thing. But I just bought it to support the developer. A damn shame he can't make a living off development of his app. My contribution won't tip the scales but can't hurt keep him motivated.
By the way; my iPhone update of NS2 worked as it should. I got the prompt that said I already owned it. I still think there’s either an AppStore glitch with syncing universal apps, or there’s something that the devs aren’t doing that’s introducing the glitch. No idea though. I just know it didn’t work like it should the last couple of times I tried, but it worked fine this time.
I tend to update OS as soon as they drop, so maybe the last update fixed it for me.
Keep in mind, the app isn’t totally finished yet. I expect there are lots of people like me waiting for audio tracks (I still bought it but others might not have yet).
Hopefully he can push through and still make that next milestone.
100% apple's fault, this detail is completely out of dev's control..
There is also other issue with D1 in NS2 - i'm experiencing lost notes sometimes, during realtime playback and during rendering mixdown too.. i think AudioKIT matt mentioned they are working on rewriting of critical part of AudioKIT because of some Swift related issues, so i hope it will fix this issue...
)
Also multiple instances of D1 are crashing.. Unfortunately looks lime AudioKIT synths and NS are not much friendly to each other
It’s more likely it was a problem on Apple’s back-end processing systems at the time, and it was fixed in their systems rather than by any update to your device. Hopefully it won’t happen again ... but I can’t say I have a lot of confidence in them if they don’t care to do a better job than the way they handle it now. I don’t push that “buy” button on an app I’ve already purchased unless I’m prepared to take it up with Apple support if they do charge me.
@dendy Thank you for the screen shots

NS2 is number 61 in the U.K. store at the moment
There’s some bizarre stuff in the charts
FLSM is 167 and it’s £899.99. Selling An app for £899.99 so that nobody buys it is a bit of a weird business choice to say the least. (There is another fruity loops at number 28).
thats old version, they intentionally set price thst high so nobody will purchase it but old users wil be still able to download it
there is another app "FL Studio Mobile" with normal price 14€ or something like that
I know. That’s what I said
I don’t care what their stated reasons are, to be still selling it for £900 is irresponsible.
And it’s 167 in the charts. Must have sold the odd copy at that price...
Is there an easy way to share projects between iPhone and iPad?
