Free AU hosts?
Bottom line: Are there any free AU hosts currently? Other than Garage Band?
I'm writing a tutorial about how to "join" an iPhone band. I'm basing my infrastructure on a single AU host that hosts the various instrument plugins (one per band member). The host receives MIDI from the band members' devices via BLE MIDI (midimittr), and sends its audio output to portable speakers. That way the band is self sufficient, not even needing WiFi. There are plenty of free AU instruments, but I'm wondering if there are any decent free hosts?

You could try checking synthfrog.com for that list

Thanks! @senhorlampada @BiancaNeve
Ideally these band-capable hosts will support a separate MIDI channel or port routing per track.
Alternatively you could base your infrastructure around the blender
@BiancaNeve I wasn't aware that TC Helicon made anything that was free
My preferred hosts for this project are AUM or apeMatrix, etc. but I want to list some free options as well.
Audio Evolution Mobile started and remained free for quite a while, but even now it's still probably the most affordable DAW. And extensible via IAP.
Try this, it hosts AUv3's and is still free

Re. sequencism, I checked with the dev and it does not support a separate MIDI input per track. In other words, every track will respond to every instrument.
Re. Poly 2, it is not actually an AU Host, at least not yet. OTOH, each MIDI input is configurable, so it could serve as an instrument hub with sampled sounds.
I need to update the app with the latest Audiobus library and fixing some iOS 13 shenanigans, so if I have time i will explore adding this to the app. Not now (pretty busy with teaching), but probably at the end of the year
