Anyone using iRig BlueBoard to control their apps?
I recently got a BlueBoard in the hope I could use it as a simple Bluetooth MIDI controller for triggering the likes of Funkbox and Ruismaker.
According to the manual it can function as a standalone BTLE controller sending note value or CC messages.
I have managed to use the MIDI learn in Audiobus to get it to stop/start Ruismaker and Funkbox is definitely receiving it, but despite trying to remap it using MIDIflow I can’t get to do what I want (scroll patterns, start/stop and tap tempo).
Anyone using a BlueBoard who might be able to offer some tips??

I've used it in the past for controlling transport in Gadget....I think it defaults to using notes
EDIT: It defaults to program change when using blueboard app, but can be set to use notes or CC, to use notes or CC's you need to start it up in a particular mode (hold C button while powering on for CC's, Hold B for notes)
You need to be on firmware v1.2 at least for CC's without using the app.

Yeah I have the latest version of BlueBoard which is already equipped with that Firmware.
It’s definitely able to send both note values and CC values.
When you turn the blueboard on, do you press the right button for the mode you want?
Send the blueboard's output through a midi monitor to see what it is sending.
Yes. And when I use MIDIflow monitoring I can see the data being sent to Funkbox. I suspect the problem is either with the remapping or Funkbox itself but I am at a loss as to what to do next!

In AudioBus I can map it to stop/start Ruismaker (but not Funkbox) just using AB3 MIDI learn (no MIDIflow needed) but tap tempo doesn’t respond properly (when press the seemingly appropriately mapped footswitch the tempo just goes to 300).
I don't know the actual steps you need to take in MIDI flow, but what you may need to do for pattern scrolling is map the notes or cc's to Program change increment and decrement...(I say this because you mention scrolling)
Switch A: CC#20 or note C3, momentary operation - Map this to Program Change Increment
CC#23 or note F3, momentary operation - Use for tap tempo
Switch B: CC#21or note D3, momentary operation - Map this to Program Change decrement
these following 2 should be able to be midi learned ?? (or if you need to map them to specific cc's/notes accordingly)

Have you sent the MIDI Flow output through a MIDI monitor to confirm that the messages you want are going out to Ruismaker and Funkbox?

MIDI WRENCH might work but if I recall it can't get messy since it shows all the MIDI messages from all devices.
Something like the AudioVeek MIDI Monitor AU or StreamByter AU are handy for seeing the only the MIDI being sent through them.
According to MIDIwrench the BlueBoard is sending note volume 127 when pressed then 0 when released.
Think I somehow need it to just send note on value??
Velocity 0 is the note off.
Since you are using MIDI Flow to translate, what matters is what MIDIFlow is sending out.
Have you checked to see what it is sending out?
Maybe you should post a screenshot of your midiflow settings.
So I managed to get stop/start and pattern increment/decrement to work after some MIDIflow tomfoolery.
Tap tempo is still impossible but have mapped one of the button to BPM increase short tap, decrease long tap using MIDI learn in Audiobus
It’s a shame as the BlueBoard is a nifty bit of kit which is let down by the fact that it sends note off values when a button is released.
I’m sure @ikmultimedia could sort this in a firmware update...please...Bluetooth mode 3. Just hold down the D button whilst switching on. There, I’ve done the hard bit for you already
Possibly a toggle mode for the pads would do it, pads seem fixed at momentary unless using the app.
One needs the note off for many uses. Sending them isn't a Blueboard flaw. If you have a special use that requires ignoring note off events, use Mozaic or Streambyter to filter them out . Or use a non-note mode on the Blueboard.

So I can load Funkbox into AUM and use AUM’s MIDI learn to control stop/start and tap tempo perfectly without the need for MIDIflow or the BlueBoard app.
But AUM’s MIDI control doesn’t allow for pattern up/down for Funkbox (which AudioBus does!)
To make things more confusing other apps don’t respond properly to AUM MIDI commands - Ruismaker is completely non-responsive to MIDI stop/start in AUM and Soft Drummer doesn’t respond to tap tempo.
Any suggestions on how I need to set these apps up to all stop/start and respond to tap tempo in AUM?
For soft drummer make sure midi clock and link are off....it should then use IAA sync for both tempo and start/stop automatically when AUM does.
For Ruismaker, load the AU instead of the IAA, and then use either Rozeta Rhythm or XOX to sequence Ruismaker...these will then tempo sync and start/stop along with the AUM transport too.

If Funkbox, a very old IAA only app that hasn’t been updated for 2yrs can do it, surely Ruismaker should be able to???
Ruismaker and the Rozeta suite ( both by @Brambos ) being AU has added benefits over Ruismaker IAA, namely multi instance and state saving. IAA is depricated and will dissappear at some point anyway. Worth making the switch
Have tried what you suggested.
Soft Drummer’s stop/start is fine but can only get it to respond to tap tempo if I tap in the tempo while it’s playing, then stop it and restart (tempo is updated when I press stop). Any ideas?
In the AUM MIDI routing I just have Bluetooth (BlueBoard) -> MIDI control
It should automatically sync to AUM tempo, have you got the tap tempo mapped to AUM ? You shouldn't need to specifically do it in Soft Drummer.
EDIT: Hmmm yeah you are quite correct, trying with Funk Drummer and without Link or MIDI Clock it is not responding to tap tempo changes in AUM tempo....or even when changing tempo using the tempo buttons...
Tried in Cubasis as well, using Tap Tempo ... Drummer does not change, but it does change when you change tempo using tempo controls.
Hmmm maybe IAA sync isn't all it's cracked up be.

Is there any other product option just for triggering record button? I prefer Bluetooth ...
Check out the Airturn BT200 range. I replaced my BlueBoard with the 4 button model, much prefer it.
