What's your use case?
You can also sample them all live (rec-pause-rec-pause...) in TwistedWave and "open in" GR16.
You could just as well complain about the complicated slicing workflow in Digitakt 😉
From what I understand of GR-16, the architecture wouldn’t allow different samples per step. Everything is loaded into an in-memory database of samples, optimized to be CPU efficient. Slicing works fine for my purposes, though it is always a bit of a pain in any app that doesn’t have transient detection.
I agree. This is the only thing limitation I’ve found difficult to work around.
complain?... nah, no, nyet, e eh, no way jose, nada.... but I'm not interested in using another app, just the beat machine on it's own... of course audio share will forever be open but... use case would be switching samples on a per step basis like you can on the digitakt without stringing samples together...... but I do string samples together on the digitakt often enough as well.... but it's great to just hit that source button and scroll through sounds you want.
I do find the Digitakt + GR16 combo superb. Certainly not perfect but so fun to use. I'd never exchange GR16 for a Digitone btw.
those are high marks
Ok.. Did a demo (yes, seems like the Android app store does demos) of G-Stomper on a crappy Samsung tablet.. lots of features.. maybe too much for me at this point.. too much of a ‘learning curve’..
Think I will stay and grow on this Groove-Rider... update pending.
Yeah, not into G-stomper. Too fidly. On Android I like Caustic 3 (DAW) and Rd4 (groovebox.)
From Korg.com ‘Lastly, as of today, ELECTRIBE Wave supports AUv3. The powerful wavetable synthesizer that has garnered praise since its launch is now compatible with your favorite iOS DAW software like Garageband, Cubasis and AUM. ‘
Interesting news!
Yeah, I saw this. I was waiting for GR to go on sale but I think I'll give it a miss and buy Electribe now. Just waiting for the update in the store. Will buy instantly
Well, I have them both.. loaded KEW in AUM today with EG Pulse and can only imagine it as an AUv3..
Edit.. I guess iOS music production is about to change when it is released.. which should be shortly..🙏
I have both. If I could only have one I’d take GR. It’s a much broader pallet. I consider EW a supplement when I want “that” texture. They’re both great either way. IMHO
I really love Electribe Wave. I put together a playlist of tracks I’ve made in it here:
And here:
I own both, but i can never quite get the sound i want out of GR-16 to my liking...
Totally agree.. I think KEW AUv3 will put a demand for GR-16 AUv3... with its midi-out, cond-trigs, etc.. KEW has its distinct flavor, and they would work nicely together.... just a matter of min, hours, I hope..
Definitely.
GR is a workstation on its own, much like a beefed-up AKAI MPC.
For people not into sound design and relying on presets, KEW is probably the better choice.
Midi Out should solve that..
I hoping if GR-16 goes Auv3, it shouldn’t take much to tie these pattern based app together (Pulse, StepPolyArp, etc) to create the perfect clip/pattern launcher+ for iOS... with state-saving goodness..
Always a fan! You certainly have Borg-ed beautifully with this. I don’t know why but the app always felt like a Rubix Cube to me. If it wasn't for your tracks I would blame the app.
Gr16 is excellent - i just wish you could sample direct into it as opposed to just Import sounds . Multi IAA Outputs too like Bleass Groovebox & a few others now have would be good.
to my understanding GR16 uses a 16 bit engine?
