Need AU3 app with decent piano sounds
Hi all - I usually never use piano type sounds in my projects. However, in my current project I would like to use a piano type sound. Any good suggestions for an AU3 app with good piano sounds that is not too processor greedy (will be used in AUM with other apps & I only have an old air 2)?
Thanks for any suggestions.

This could be the one.
In ascending order, both prize- and processor wise: BS-16 with the Salamander sfz. BeatHawk with piano IAP. iSymphonic with Keys Sound Set.
Beathawk pianos are good and AU if you own it. Otherwise people swear by the Ravenscoft.
@LinearLineman would be able to tell you his favorite keys to tinkle.
Forgot that Ravenscroft is AU. It’s excellent but also very processor heavy.
Thanks for the recommendations - I will have a look at them. Happy Christmas to all!
PureSynth Platinum has some nice acoustic pianos, among tons of other great sounds, keyboard and otherwise. That’d be my recommendation unless you’re super serious about getting the highest quality possible.
Beathawk’s acoustic piano is really good too.
Ravenscroft 275 sounds quite real and it has that handy Timbre knob that will change the character of the piano quite a bit (simply said: Turn up for Pop, turn down for Classics).
It also gives you release samples and sympathetic resonance while holding the sustain pedal down, not every iOS piano does that.
It's not cheap but they have a sale on it from time to time (50% off).
It’s cool to have the Ravenscroft on iPad AND iPhone as it is Universal. Love it. Great sounds and I Never had problems with it
Salamander free piano won our blind listening competition, i think it sound the best too.
Its a soundfont so you need Bismark bs-16i sampler to run it or similar ios sampler. Very CPU light.
Total cost 9 euro
Ravenscroft gets my vote, it's the most tweakable and the sustain pedal resonance is way better than any other option.
Otherwise Salamander is also good, but a little bright for my tastes.
Ravenscroft is the best one. You spend money but you will have quite the best piano on a mobile platform.
Thanks all - Ravenscroft may well be an early Xmas pressie to myself.
+1 for RC275, as always @lurcher. Frequent half price sales. Beathawk acoustic is even cheaper on sale. Quite good but not as tweakable.
Another vote for RC275
+1
Worth noting that it’s well supported by the developers
Ok money not spent yet! Will check out RC275!
Just in case you don't know, Ravenscroft and RC275 are the same app 🎹
