While I genuinely don't get why anyone would even have to announce their departure, good luck on your future endeavors!

P.s:- lurking without posting is a legitimate option instead of deleting your account.

I’d have to agree in part, but maybe it’s the symbolism of a clean break, humanity is driven in part by it’s ritualistic nature.

You have a point there. Although the sad bit is deleting an account also makes it impossible to see older contributions by the deleted user. It's like wiping a part of internet history.

i believe that is the point, why should everything you say must be recorded forever? bit like speaking in person and having your conservation recorded at all times.

While I agree with you that convos should not exist forever, loss of knowledge is still a loss. A lot of amazing tutorials etc have pretty much vanished from this site due to earlier users deleting their accounts or getting banned.

I guess it's just a difference of what we perceive should be preserved. For me atleast I'd prefer anything I put out in terms of stuff being taught to others outlasting even me. While YouTube pretty much made all my modstep tutorials obsolete due to them deleting all my annotations I didn't wipe them from the web due to them still being of some use someday to somebody.

i respect your views on this. Shame about the YT messing with your tutorials.

Good to reboot occasionally. I had a couple of forum free years after a few commentators got me down. Rejoined, vowed to stick to only threads about music and apps (haven’t quite stuck to that one) and felt all the better for it.

  • I can see doing something like this.

If I’ve been obsessively spending way too much time on a given site and can’t quite break the addiction... to the detriment of getting other more important stuff accomplished, etc. then yeah. I can see asking an admin to delete my account with hope of making it more difficult for me to engage.

That wouldn’t work for me though. I’d still find a way to keep at it.

Only thing that I’ve had success with when trying to break a habit, is finding another more productive habit to replace it with.

  • @WillieNegus is a kind, creative and hilarious part of this community. He will be missed by me. But I won’t question his choice to do what he feels is best for him. I’ll surely celebrate his return if it should happen. All the best to him and y’all.

Didn’t expect to wake up to so many notifications. Not sure why I haven’t been deleted yet but I hope all is well with @Michael with all that’s going on down under. although ever the optimist, I just think he’s taking a much needed holiday break.

Just gives me an opportunity to express more gratitude which is always a good thing. To Gus’s point about me checking back in frequently, I’ve been sending personal messages and exchanging contact info with a few friends. Not sure why that matters to anyone who isn’t but ay....to each his own.lmbao. I appreciate the attention however ironic.🤷🏽‍♂️

Digress, I really appreciate the kind send off folks. Exemplifies what’s so dope and compelling about this space. Sincerely, thanks again to those ive impacted positively and trust the reciprocal remains true.

If there is one thing I hope my presence here has accomplished, it is to exemplify how easily dismissed negativity is. You don’t have to personally engage those who say stupid shit or don’t get you. Wise woman once told me.... “fuck um”.lol.

After all, despite the occasional clouds what’s more beautiful or worthy of your attention than sunshine ☀️?

To those sharing positivity, again, thanks for the energy. I would hope that the others find something productive to do with whatever energy they have but won’t be bothered if they keep investing it here. I’m not in the least sensitive or easily bothered by bothered people. To the contraire, I find humor in them.lol

    Peace and blessings.

Special thanks to those whom I’ve been exchanging with via PM/email and when the lights go out you know how to reach me 🙏🏽

  • Cheers Willie, you brought a whiff of cool to the joint. :) My attention is purely that of a fan.

Why are some you guys/ladies in here like that? If Willie just left without saying anything, some including myself would be asking what happened. Few users in here left without saying anything and others that care do wonder. For those that don’t care and are asking why he made the post, my question to you is why are you in here posting about it, why do you care with the fact that he did? If you gotta ask yourself why he made the post ignore this thread and move on, that’s what most of us do when it’s a thread we don’t care about. Keep your negative energy to yourself.

  • @WillieNegus why did you request to be deleted anyway?

Forums and avatars mean completely different things to different people. Some people engage and get connected with others online (and their own virtual identity) like they are having real meaningful human interaction and some people see this more as a virtual graffiti wall or old school video game (no idea what the kids do now). I don't think there is a standard one can really assume.

If someone just never logged on again I doubt I would even notice. I just don’t connect to names and avatars at all. To me this is all ‘someone on the AB forum said...’. Now, if like Willie I met people in the real world from the forum I would likely have a totally different perspective on threads and messages etc. but I have never actually met anyone in the real world after encountering them online first so I just have not evolved my forum mentality which is probably still that of a 1980s 14 year old.

I think changing your password would have the right result: blocking further access.
Deletion changes the record of all the good conversations posted here.

Please consider that @Michael (unless @WillieNegus wants his words "unclaimed").
I still see comments from "Deleted User" and then someone cold assume that user ex-user
(who lost it over a BeatMaker 3 update that broke his tracks) and @WillieNegus are one and the same. Blocking access going forward seems to be the intent here.

Goodbye @WillieNegus. You brought perspectives to the forum that are not represented
with such clarity, intelligence and empathy for others. You provided context and many teachable moments. You will be missed.

    ? ? ?

Unless you are terminally ill (in which case just say so), or joining a monastery, I don’t get it.
There’s internet access pretty much everywhere. It’s a forum. Use as needed.
What is the missing piece of this puzzle?

    But whatever. All the best.

Willie and I are actually undercover celebrities posting on regular forums for fun......hmmmm I've said too much. Never mind...carry on!

  • I can only say about [DELETED USER] that {he|she} was a class act and saying goodbye and thank you to a party's hosts (yes, this is our party) is a sign of good manners.

Everything [DELETED USER] wrote here is now marked accordingly. Along with another [DELETED USER] that wrote some less considerate comments before voluntarily imploding.

    Still... Drambo.

I remember it well, it was before you went pro! That was the new and improved version you said. But I’m not subscribing to you if you change your model, nor will I pay attention if you go freemium, so don’t you dare... ;)
