1 Stability.. That’s why I’m hoping they don’t turn it into an AU host, just out of fear that it’ll upset the balance of the force. All my AU daws are somewhat unstable from time to time , while Gadget soldiers on like a well oiled machine.

2 It’s the one environment I know inside and out more than any other. It’s comfort food to me.

3 “Limitations breed creativity”. I love experimenting with it, pushing beyond its limits to coax new, unexpected sounds out of it..

    Yep. What he said.

  • It’s because it was so expensive with all the in app purchases.

I have invested much more $$$$ into it than any other music apps and therefore cling to it irrationally.

  • Gadget is pretty brilliant and I love Korg sounds. I would prefer au effects but I can always export the tracks to Auria once I have everything arranged

I suppose this is true if one write's music that never has held notes across sections.

Of course it depends on the kind of compositions you make. And yes, I am aware of these limitations. But even for this there are at least some workarounds that I have been able to use.

I've completed a number of tracks inside Gadget but sometimes I prefer to use alternatives when it comes to high-quality acoustic/electric pianos, drums, guitars, brass etc.
I never went for the rather expensive IAPs (Module and the likes) because there are better options with more choices sound-wise. Mainly on desktop, sequenced by iPad apps.

Well, you are on point here: The IAPs are what makes Gadget a viable alternative to other DAWs. The sounds from Module are very good (even the organs), the drums in Gladstone are okay if reasonably tweaked. Only thing I really miss is guitar sounds. I work around that by playing guitar apps via Taipei and then re-importing the instrument track with Zurich.

And iMono/Poly / Montpellier is my favourite synth ever. Great sounds, super versatile.
