What is best DJ app to mix my own tracks?
I am looking for the best app to create mixes of techno tracks I've produced? I'm just looking to mix tracks with transitions and be able to sync different bpm of tracks and output or record the output. It would be a bonus if I could use stems that I output from AUM instead of fully mixed tracks but that's not a deal breaker. I also don't want anything that is subscription based. I was looking at DJay, Traktor and some popular apps but not sure what is a good place to start. I'm not a DJ and don't plan on performing live and I don't care about mixing tracks other than ones I'm producing.

Launchpad or Remixlive might be options
I am also not a DJ or performer (although i do like to make messes while jamming stuff and recording audio for later mixing). It sounds like what you may possibly want is also what I want which is a timeline based DAW with good audio track support for mixing. So just lining stuff up on tracks as opposed to having to do it live. (I mean, maybe..?)
Currently nothing on iOS really satisfies this imho.
In the short term I would think that once Cubasis 3 gets it's maintenance updates (currently way too buggy for me to use) that it will probably be not too bad but it really also needs sidechain support particularly for Techno and beatz etc but then again it sounds like you may just be happy with your mixes on final tracks and just want to lay them out together, so maybe Cubasis 2 could do it for you.
Nanostudio 2 will be getting audio tracks one day but it could be next year, who knows, and what kind of implementation is also a mystery so it may or may not be a contender but it ceratinly is on the radar. I am optimistic and hopeful that it kicks ass because so much else in the app does but there are weird holes now still after year one that make me cautious about getting too excited.
Thanks. launchpad might be good. I have and enjoy Groovebox
The only DAW I have is BM3 so I thought about that but lack of tempo automation kills it for this workflow. Also BM3 starts choking when I have more than 4 audio tracks even on my current generation iPad. I keep trying to go back and use BM3 and I keep getting frustrated by how quickly I hit cpu wall with a few tracks and effects
Mm, yah the only timeline based audio track solution with tempo automation I can think is possibly NS2 in the future.
Very odd BM3 is choking with more than 4 tracks. Even my 2017 base ipad could handle way more than that.
i've prepared a number of tracks for remixing in the past and because of all the file handling limitations on iOS, I would still use Ableton Live for the task.
If you can get over the limitations, I can imagine Beatmaker 3 with its time stretching and pitch shifting abilities to be a great alternative though.
Choking with > 4 tracks?
Something must be wrong over there.
if i good remember BM2 was rock solid even with 16-20 audio tracks on iPad Air1 ... it's classic DAW even with some featurea missing in BM3 (like you can have different audio files on SAME track and it will seamlessly play them together)
not exacly live/djing tool, just in my opinion ironically BM2 is still one of most reliable audio multimtrack recorder/sequencer on iOS :-)
I am not sure I follow. Are you saying you can’t have different audio files on the same track in BM3? I do this all the time.
playing simultaneously ?? Like in this screenshot, that are 4 lanes of SAME single track and different audio files are playing together on that single track.. so that audio track works effectively like group ..

Even through there is no AUfx in BM2, for me it is still best audio tracks implementation on iOS. Very user friendly, smart, works smoothly and rock solid stable.
Yeah. I generally have a decent amount of AUv3 effects going in BM3. Usually 2 effects on master bus and 4 aux sends so that is maybe the issue more than audio track count. If I try to use midi instruments instead of audio tracks I can only use 2 at a time usually. In AUM I can have twice as many instruments and effects loaded and barely hit 50% cpu. In BM3 recently I get the entire interface freezing where I can't do anything and even when I quit the app the audio keeps playing until I reboot my iPad.
Zenbeats.
Now I see what you mean. I cant wait for NS2 audio tracks, I love the nesting of tracks in there.
Traktor DJ or Launchpad. But both are very different in design, concept, workflow. Traktor DJ is meant for mixing full tracks, and you can only load two tracks at a time, and it only loads tracks from your iTunes library. It is really good at auto-detecting bpm and real-time stretching and syncing two different tracks. It has lots of cool effects, stutters, flanging/phasing, delay, lo fi, scratch, etc.
Launchpad is designed to mix short clips (loops) that are in different categories: drums, bass, vocal, lead, fx, etc., that come in packs. You would have to do a lot of prep work chopping up, categorizing, property naming, bpm, etc. your stems in order to mimic the Launchpad pack scheme in order to import them .. I can’t remember what all is involved to import into Launchpad, but there are definitely certain steps you need to follow. There are also lots of cool effects in Launchpad, but several of them require IAPs.
Like most things iPad, getting your audio in and out requires a certain amount of hoops to jump through..
Have you looked at DJDJ mixing app?
djay pro was a really great app but I refuse to get the latest one because of the subscription nonsense. You could mix down in Cubasis and open it directly in djay pro from there.
Yeah that looks like the most interesting app to me but I also refuse to do subscriptions. I don't mind an IAP that is a set price to unlock features but I don't want any subscription based apps
DJ Player Pro is the best.
Djay pro - used this, has files support, runs on iPhone too!

Edit, can’t see in App Store
For mixing two tracks djay pro works fine without sub. The sub unlocks 4 track mixing, launchpad type looping with prefab loops and video mixing. For my needs it’s a great dj app for free.
I use Traktor DJ on the iPad as my main DJ app these days, it's stable and I like the interface a lot. The fact I can easily pair it with my Z1 makes it so easy to use and transport. It has built in mix recording now too, so you don't even need to leave the app to record a set.
djay is a cool app too that follows a more traditional style of mixing, but like someone else said, once it went subscription I lost all interest.
DJDJ. I’ve explained the reasons why many, many times so I won’t now. I can tell you that it’s easily the most stable and equipped for everything including being a production secrete weapon. Ableton Link enabled. It’s really great.
DJDJ is really great. That’s what I usually use to remix my own stuff when I don’t need to go the launchpad route
Djay Pro is my first choice. It can run on the iPhone. Quite convenient for use. And it is easy to update the local music library by accessing Tidal, SoundCloud, and Spotify, though Spotify will exit soon. BTW I have been syncing the Spotify playlists to Tidal via drmare these days, really huge amount of work...)
I'm gonna be controversial here and say Ableton or literally any daw on pc/Mac. iOS is just terrible when it comes to timeline with tempo automation.
Djay is great, no matter the desktop version of the mobile version. I love to use it to capture my inspiration in time. And there are many streaming integrations for choice, such as Spoitfy, Tidal, and SoundCloud. Since the coming soon termination of Spotify, I am learning how to download Spotify music via my Spotify song downloader and import them to djay.
