[CBT-1288] Cubasis not accepting Midi Out from Audio unit instruments
is not fixed?
Cubasis 3.0.1 doesn't record from midi plugins. Tested with Geoshred, Rozeta and Velocity Keyboard.
Cubasis records Geoshred midi if I load it as auv3 instrument, but doesn't record from midi plugin slot.
@lfs please see @SashaPonkratov report that recording AU MIDI issues are still there.
Records fine from xequence midi au keys in the midi effect slot.
Records fine from Digistix no issues
@LFS I consider C2 the most complete DAW on iOS, I will buy C3 when it's on par with C2 in terms of features. For example Roli Noise integration in C2 is the best on iOS and don't see it in the description of C3.
So until C3 has all the essential features will C2 still get bug fixes and other maintenance updates?
Thanks
From above list of fixes
CBT-1343 Using ROLI NOISEwith Cubasis 3 now works as expected.
I've not verified this myself as I don't have ROLI Noise
Ok thanks @AndyPlankton
Oh well, in order to 'make more room' on my iPad I moved all my Cubasis 2 projects and presets (as is) into Cubasis 3 and deleted Cubasis 2...(I have a backup of the projects on my Computer so no loss there).
As I feared since the default paths have changed the projects can not find the audio files but the files are there (when looking with the Files.app) so it's in fact Cubasis 3 that is 'too blind to see them?!
@LFS will it be possible in 3.0.2 to 'browse' into the project folders and re-link the audio files or will this be done 'automagically' in a future update? (Ie. Cubasis 3 scans the project folder for the files when opening the project).
I'll leave the projects in place in Cubasis 3 and do my stuff in BM3 until the next update drops...
Cheers!
PS. Did some manual house-keeping with Computer & iFunBox and now everything works as expected...
Appears that Files.app doesn't actually 'copy/move' the files but rather creates a .cache file pointing to the original file that may have confused Cubasis 3 (I'm on iPad Air 2, iOS13.3.1) DS.
All fine an dandy now when the start for the Mini Sampler update starts
Tested again on iPhone and on iPad.
steps to reproduce
1. create new empty project
2. add midi track
3. add Rozeta Bassline as midi fx, generate some line
4. press record
Cubasis 3.0.1 - instrument plays, but no midi is recorded
Cubasis 2 - records midi just fine
Have you enabled the record to track option ?
wow! thank you! I didn't know that I should press this button.
@LFS Another 'request' for project house-keeping...
When clearing the undo history add an option to delete all the un-used audio files that end up in the Project.cbp/Audio/Backup/ when editing audio since they would not be needed anymore as references for undo...
(This is such a 'no-brainer' that it should have been implemented without separate request).
Looking forward to what's cooking in the future especially regarding sampling & audio-editing...
Cheers!
Thank Lars (and team) it’s nice to have folks like you that work hard to squash bugs as fast as you can and courteously detail it all out for us. I know there’ll never be an app or an update that will fix homeless starving fish universewide, but a bunch of folks fixing and cranking out stuff at your level is fantastic and good enough for me. Cheers from one of your fans!
Ok, so I 'solved' my problems with missing audio files...
I copied over all the Cubasis 2 projects to my desktop, zip:ed each of the *.cbp folders into separate *.zip archives.
Then I used the import function in Cubasis 3 and imported the *.zip files one by one...
(So using Files.app to 'copy/move' the files from Cubasis 2 folder to Cubasis 3 did NOT work as expected).
Nice to see the first update. Moving events is still terribly inconsistent for me but hopefully it gets addressed in the next update.
Now that I've spent more time with Cubasis 3 I agree...
Also the 'mixer' feels a bit more laggy as it needs to 'highlight' the strip before it's possible to move the slider where in the previous Cubasis 2 it was instant, just tap'n'drag...
Oh well, at least all my previous projects are now working as expected so I could safely delete Cubasis 2 and save some precious space on my iPad.
On the positive side the increased PPQN with improvements to the Quantise features make even a lousy keyboard player like me play in time, bravo!
Also dragging clips (or moving tracks) past the vertical extents of the zoomed timeline no longer auto scrolls the timeline like it did in Cubasis 2. Ahh well, I am back on desktop for timeline baseed audio. It will probably be years until there is anything viable on iOS for me.
There's a new bug in the glue tool too...

Other than that, it's actually mostly usable now and definitely feels snappier than C2.
Really? That’s very annoying if that doesn’t work.
It is quite annoying. There was always a lot of unnecessary zooming and panning in Cubasis and this is now a step backwards.
Still no tempo or time signature change
Help on Amelia Bay > Import says -
Imported files will be placed into corresponding folders, according to their file type (it will unzip file if necessary)
I haven't plunged yet (amazingly), but this leaves me steady on the fence.
@LFS : Any chance of us being able to mix and match time signatures in the sequencer in the not too distant future?
@LFS thanks to you and your dev team for all your efforts on this maintenance release. The most important bugs that affected my workflow have been squashed. This took longer than I would have liked, but thank you all the same for getting it done. I know this must not have been an easy accomplishment, so the effort of your team deserved to be acknowledged.
Bravo!
Hi @SashaPonkratov, Hi @papertiger,
To our knowledge, things work as expected, which other users have confirmed too.
@SashaPonkratov
Please let us have your feedback
Thanks,
Lars
Noticed that some of the MiniSampler instruments I have imported do not loop correctly in Cubasis 3.
They looped perfectly in Cubasis 2 and some containing multiple samples have 'static noise' at the end of some samples.
(This feels is like some kind of 'memory offset error').
I do have to say that I just copied the *.cbi files using Files.app and did not 'import' them, will try that later today and see if that fixes it?!
Since there is currently no way to edit the MiniSampler instruments in Cubasis 3 I'll just wait for the update so I can re-adjust the loop points...
Cheers!
Hi Samu,
If the issue persists:
Please upload some of these instruments that clearly show the differences between V2 and V3 via Dropbox, and let me have the download links via Email.
Will share and discuss with the team.
Thanks
Lars
Oki, I'll just have make room to temporary re-install Cubasis 2 first...
Hopefully the *.zip import method solves it, if not I'll upload the zipped *.cbi files and send you a link.
If things work as expected I'll keep my mouth shut
Cheers!
