Thank you for this! Can Synthdrum to glides/portamento?
What auv3 do you like for dialing in a custom low pass like this? I usually use visual eq by 4pockets but it doesn’t seem particularly well suited for this
I don,t believe so unless someone has a hack, you can have a look at brief overview/manual? Its iPhone compatible and been a game changer for me in terms of getting that kind of 808 bass without using samples.

I use 808 samples in Digistix all the time
I feel like a lot of people are getting confused by the term 808. While 808 originated as a drum machine, modern beat makers and rap producers use it to refer to a cleanish-sounding, rounded bass synth.
I’ve created a great sounding “808 bass” in Shockwave.
So a low passed square wave and maybe a Sine wave one octave below?
If you want to do 808 style bass, might want to try Elastic Drums. Which works on the iphone as an added bonus.
Looked at it earlier, unfortunately not.
Bleass Alpha in this case. Stand alone JAF Collection is very precise.
Thank you for this~ how does Bleass Filter compare? JAF collection looks v nice but a bit intimidated by the price tag
Yikes! You are not kidding. It wasn’t that pricey when I bought it.
I don’t own Bleass Filter but from a quick look it is the filter section from Alpha. I’d recommend it. Precise, versatile and an excellent sound.
@Philandering_Bastard thank you so much
Last question ~ regarding the gliding bass on the first huncho jack track I posted~ how would you go about synthesizing this?
Two sawtooth oscillators slightly detuned, with a LP to taste. Pitch envelope with 700 ~ 800 ms delay time. The pitch movement on some of the notes can be achieved with pitch bend / glide / automation.
The samples are spread over the decay and tone parameters. There's 10 decay and 6 tones for each decay, if that makes sense. No pitching was done to any of the samples, but obviously you can pitch them in the app.
I like Bram's stuff.
For an upcoming option – There's a code based 808 synth dropping for iPad in a couple of weeks. It's probably the best non-sample based 808 kick emulation I've ever heard. Blew my mind when the guy played me the algorithm.
Co-developed by a fellow who studied under John Chowning (creator of FM Synthesis) at Stanford. I'm building the UI for it. So, I might be a bit biased. But, it's going to be incredible. Might even be released by AudioKit. We'll see...
Sounds gorgeous~ any chance of it being universal? My workflow is iPhone only
Thank god. I spent some time screwing around in various synths before coming to the decision that manually tuning 808 samples is dumb. Also trap is boring.
I look forward to seeing what this project is coming up with, certainly hope it’s going to have more depth than just tuned 808s which feel played out to me.
Actually using sawtooth with just the slightest amount of noise. It’s actually a modification of one of @jakoB_haQ’s presets.
That certainly is a lot of bass. Nice patch, even if it’s a modded preset 👍
Is nothing sacred anymore?
Thanks. It’s working great in a beat I’m working on.
It’s not an AUv3 but it is universal if you’re a nanostudio 2 user. My Trap Kit with the 808 Engine for obsidian that lets you have presets as well as parameter adjustments (glide time, drive, etc) . Here’s some info:
