How do you do two iPad corona jams over the web?

I don’t know the search terms for this so I can’t find past discussions.

How do you link over the web two iPads in AUM or whatever and ableton link em and so both can hear the jam live?

  • I don't know. But I think this thread is about a new app that lets you do something like that, may still be in beta stage:

    Can’t.

The emerging solution mentioned above will enable something along those lines, but not exactly the way you’re picturing it.

It might be possible to get Link working over a properly configured Virtual Private Network (VPN) between two firewall/routers, but I’m not sure that Link could handle the latency (the variable time it takes to traverse across the internet between two points). It may be that it has enough smarts to compensate, but it’s certainly not what it was designed for. And setting up such a VPN requires equipment and expertise beyond most people’s. Audio streaming over that type of connection would be even more difficult and problem prone.

You’d think that with Voice over IP, Video Conferencing, FaceTime, etc. that something like this would be easy. That’s not the case, just yet anyway, for general use.

  • yeah, I would love to find a low latency way to jam over wifi, but so far all the things I've tried don't really cut it. latency is a jam killer..

best bet might be a back and forth overdub exchange

  • As has been mentioned Endlesss does this already and does it perfectly.
Easy access link in the thread mentioned above.

  • Well Tim Exile couldn’t have released this at a better time......I wonder if he has shares in Streamate too...

It will be free to use when it does get released and has been in development for 6~7 years already. No user has paid a penny.

  • Hat’s off to Tim, he foresaw the fact that everyone would be having to spend their money on food too.....

Seriously though , my comment was a joke not a snipe just in case anyone was wondering

  • Thanks.
Oh well, at least there’s endlesss. I’ll get in on the beta. Let’s check it out folks!
