Rhythm training app
Hi all!
Any recommendations on rhythm training apps? I always find myself tapping some rhythm when I have an idle moment. I might as well get an app to do structured training. Thanks.

Hi, Fattigman. If you're in electronic music crowd, try melodics.com. It has tons of cool training lessons for beat making and piano. All training differs in genres (hip-hop, glitch-hop, house, techno, edm and etc) and sometimes comes from respected fellows like Mark de Clive-Lowe, DJ Spinna and DJ Jazzy Jeff. Plus gamification, nice GUI, new regular lessons and etc. I purchased year subscription, but it's not necessarily because there is many free lessons to keep your fingers in shape.
yes i have an excellent app for you sir

Hi lazy ass (sorry I don’t mean to be rude 😅) , thanks I’ll take a look at it.
@Shiro thanks, it looks good and cheap too 👌
I'm looking the same as you...I've found these ones:
Rhythm Lab
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/rhythm-lab/id589129345
Rhythm Trainer by Rhythmicity
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/rhythm-trainer-by-rhythmicity/id766756872

Rhythm Sight Reading Trainer

Flying Beat - Rhythm Trainer

I've found there's no the perfect one...Rhythm Lab is not universal but it includes drum training...Probably I'll ending buying a couple or three of them. My favourites are Rhthm Lab (features) and Rhythm Sight Reading Trainer (universal).
FunkyDrumTutor has a couple of apps in the store.
Also, somewhat OT, but still quite useful: if you tap your rhythms on something that can be heard, it can be recorded. If you record it and import it into Auria Pro, and you have the drumagog plugin, you can turn your taps into real drums. It is a great way of adding for example hi-hats or advanced ride cymbal work without having to spend 3 days in a pianoroll.
EDIT: addition, I use my iPhone for recording those taps as I have it with me. The tricky part is to ensure your taps are in the same BPM as your tune. I quite often listen to my draft tune (in headphones) whilst tapping-and-recording-my-taps on my iPhone.
PS. I got the tip from a thread in this very forum a couple of years ago (quite probably from @richardyot or someone) so all credit should go to that clever person, I'm just paying it forward, it wasn't my original idea, but it has worked well for me.
Thanks for all suggestions everyone. I think there’s an app where you can tap anything and it will produce sound. I just don’t remember the name of it.
Impaktor? Drambo?
https://appsliced.co/app?n=impaktor-drum-synthesizer&l=list
Impaktor + AAS Objeq
@hellquist drambo!? It’s just a myth or legend, there’s no such thing 😉
Yes I was thinking of Impaktor, thanks
multirhythms by radicle llc .. if you do not like sheet music style
Rhythm Sight Reading Trainer has that feature.
"MICROPHONE
Use of the microphone as an alternative to the tap buttons.
Play the rhythm with hand claps, finger-snaps or an instrument.
Sensitivity function.
Support for external microphones."
Thank you @hisdudeness and @fjcblanco

mpd 218: https://www.akaipro.com/mpd218 - iphone can supply enough power for this one for when on the go.
I like Rhythm Lab and Rhythm Sight Trainer.
Rhythm Lab also supports Midi In, which can be cool if you're a pianist.
I'd love an app that allowed one to practice swing rhythms.
Check out Polynome https://polynome.net/
also PercussionTutor
Rhythm Sight Reading Trainer has option to turn swing on (with type light, medium, hard) for all quarter note meter exercises (not just those already labeled "swing") and this includes the randomly generated ones.
Oh I must have missed that. Thanks.
God, Polynome looks amazing. I'm constantly cycling through metronomes because they each do something well, and others badly. That seems to hit everything.
Do you know if it has midi out?
No midi out but Audiobus compatible
@cian yes it is amazing and great for rhythm learning
Okay if you need a metronome for practicing any instrument get Polynome. More expensive than some, and a little clunky to configure in places (the lack of a built in count-in is annoying - there is a workaround, but still) - but my god, once you have it configured it does EVERYTHING.
For example, the only metronome that does swing properly. The only metronome that does accents properly. One of the few that has decent built in sounds. If you want to add a bass pattern - it's got you covered. Need to practice 5:4, or 17 against 7 - sure. Want to practice random drop outs. Yes. Need to do a pattern with mixtures of tuplets, no problem. Want to create a practice set for a song, or a set. Yes. Want to practice with the beats getting steadily faster and faster.
It even does Konnakol symbols.
